A good exhaust is always worth the buck. Is it an m6 or an a4?

LS6 intake, P/P TB, Fast Toys SSRA, lid of somesorts; Fast Toys or SLP. Or work on the exhaust side first w/ a good merge. If you do exhaust and the car is stock I would do motor mounts at the same time.

Lid...p/p throttle body...ls6intake.............catback
$85.....$55...................$375 at most.....$350-375=your budget not including install.
But atleast a lid/catback.

I know it sounds dumb but if its a auto I would get a nice stall converter. You will already be in the 12's with a good stall and some good tires..

Also a cam kit (cam, springs, lifters etc...)

those are the best bang for your buck...

Just browse around and take a look at what some people are doing, and then do the opposite lol..

Just don't rush into anything, Because once you start modding and going in a direction its hard to turn back.

I would tackle a full exhaust first. Headers, good Y, and a catback or duals. Also, poly mounts at the time of headers is a smart approach.

If he wants his car to be loud then yeah, go with an exhaust... A good stall will feel like a mini H/C car though..

Wow many replies! I like the site already! Im not sure what a4 or m6 means, bare with me im new to this car. I have an SLP lid on it already, but its cracked, so either new intake system or replace that, i really havent put much thought into it. I was thinking about going with a simple replace of the muffler with an electric cutout, As of right now my main goal isnt to make it fast, simply just a little fun. Although today i have run into the system running lean, i believe some of this check will be going into getting my fuel system fixed, which will put a damper on the rest of the project, Before i go any further, is it possible the exhaust not causing enough back pressure to make the car run lean? i havent hooked up a fuel gauge yet so dont quote me, but has anyone else run into this issue?

A4=Automatic transmission because it has 4 gears
M6= Manual transmission because it has 6 gears

Why do you think it's running lean? Did you have it scanned to DTC's? A lean condition can be caused by a vacuum leak, bad MAF sensor, bad 02 sensor, bad PCV system

Depending on where your lid is cracked it can be pulling air in past the MAF which can cause a lean condition.

FWIW, make sure you get the car in top running condition before you start modding it. If you don't it will be harder to diagnose problems later on if you start changing things.

Has the car had a tune up lately? Plugs, wires, fuel and air filter? I know those things are cool speed parts but should be in good condition. Plugs and wires are pretty cheap to do. Several sponsors sell NGK plugs and MSD wires together for a good price.

Can you fix the lid with some epoxy or is it to much compromise with the crack? some guys epoxy intakes and lids with cracks. I would do what the they said above, start working on a full exhaust. I am almost there and had car for 3 months or so. I just cant decide on a catback for the life of me.
