Default Milled .030 243's/799's on 00' 5.3L

How much HP do you think I will pick up with this seap alone? I have a hotcam, LT's and CAI already. I can get the heads, gaskets and bolts for $500 Id like to see a 40hp gain on the dyno. U think its worth it?

If measured at the crank, 35-40 seems reasonable.

Not even close on the 40hp. The 5.3 heads are already high comp, so milled 243s won't gain you that much compression. That said, the 243s are an improvement flow wise so you will get some power there. Just not 40hp.

Thats what i was thinking. I want to mill to keep compression, just wonder if they flow that much better. I really need some more top end flow with the cam and figure this would provide it.

The hotcam isn't exactly a big cam that needs killer head flow, especially on a 5.3.

Now if you had a decent cam in there, a set of 243s might gain you a good amount of power. On the tiny hot cam, not really.

When Gm swapped to the 799 heads on a stock 5.3 I believe the difference was 15hp, you're getting a tiny compression bump milled and like mentioned the hot cam doesn't have anymore lift than a stock LS2 cam so I'd say 20-25hp is my guess.
