Forged 408 Stroker Street/Strip Cam
I need some help guys. I am having a long block built by TSP and I am needing some advice on a good cam for street strip use. It's a forged 408 LQ9, -8cc pistons, PRC 247cc heads with 66cc chambers, all arp bolts, GM MLS gaskets, factory rockers with trunion upgrade, 7.450 pushrods, .675 dual springs, ARP bolts and main studs, GM MLS head gaskets, and an estimated 10.9:1-11:1 CR. They have recommended a 244/248 .612/.615 114 cam with a 3600-3800 stall. I am wondering what you guys think about this cam and how it will apply to a street strip application using pump gas and eventually a 200 shot. This cam and stall seem a little redical for street so any advice and/or comments are welcome. Thanks!

I am also looking to set my shift at 7k. I was told it could handle more but I'm looking to keep it safe for longer life. That's a lot of cubes your working with I bet its torque monster.

The 244/248 is proven in the 400+cid combos. It's pretty streetable in a 427. In a 408 it might be a little more to handle for a car that sees the street a lot. But being on a 114 will help.
If you wanted to tame it a bit, you could try a 240/244 114 or so. But, I'd go with the 244/248 and a 4000 stall.

the cam is Fine for a daily Driver 408....but if you want to do a 200 shot of nitrous, consider asking for a little more duration on the exhaust side...you honestly cant open the exhaust valve soon enough in an LS motor, especial in a power adder application...
and remember... bigger cubes needs a bigger cam, more cylinder to fill means more duration to allow more time to fill it...it will react the same as something much smaller
as far as the stall goes.... a 3600 stall will be great (as long as you dont go cheap)... I suggest a Yank PY3600... they feel great with a 408 and will be stellar on the giggle gas in the future...
it doesnt feel "loose" like a lot of others will.

Thanks soundengineer! So what would you suggest for duration? 248/254, .615"/.622" or something simular? Will this need a bigger stall?
