Default replacing valves

If i were to swap valves from one head to another, would I have to do a new valve job? the idea I am having is replacing ls2 valves with ls6 valves on a 243 head

Shouldn't have to. They're all the same sizes and angle. You're swapping to the hollow stem intakes and sodium filled exhausts right?

If the valves and seats aren't all beat up, it'll be fine. Lapping them in wouldn't be a bad idea either.

well the heads in question had a valve job done by tea along with the stage 1 porting. thing is i have a set of ls6 valves and would rather have the lighter valvetrain. I dont know if when TEA does a valve job, if they match it to each valve or just run a generic cnc program that assumes the valves are within spec.

They more than likely run a generic program for a 2.0" valve with a 45 degree seat. In that case, you are good to go.

I would call TEA and ask them the question since they did the work. Why speculate on it.

I lapped my LS6 (new take outs) into the 15,700 mile seats on my 241
heads and they worked just fine. In your case as long as the TEA heads are
stg ones and not the larger valved stg twos you should also be fine with a
simple lapping. The only thing that will hurt flow a few cfms will be that your
new valves won't have the backcut that TEA does to the valves. You could
just number them when lapping and run them over to a local machine shop.
