Default TR 224/224 112 or 114 LSA

Im thinking about getting a cam and was planning on a TR 224. but im trying to decide between the 112 or the 114. What is the difference in power, reliability, sound, etc. Also is this a good choice for a cam?

Thanks

i have the tr224 on 112lsa with 563/563. my advice to you?? go bigger!!!!
this is a good med size cam, but a car with a bigger cam and same bolt ons as you can come around and leave you in the dust.

WIth an M6 car, the 112 LSA wont be a big deal at all. Go with the 112 if you want a slightly meaner (read "choppier") idle. A 114 LSA will be slightly more smooth than a 112.

Want a stock like idle and emissions sniffer capability? Go with the 114lsa

Great cam for stealth like performance.

Very pleased with the TTP installation of this 224/224 .563 114 lsa..

I have the 114lsa with heads. Made ggod numbers with stock tune and rev limiter. Hopefully that will change in the near future.

If I was to go 224, I would choose 224/224, .581/.581 112lsa for M6 and 114 for A4.
The extra lift will take you in the 410>420 hp range H/C + bolt ons.

There is also the NEW TSP 225, 225/225, .589/.589 112+2lsa that is worth a look at.

What would be the difference in power and reliability? What does the +2 mean in 112+2? Sorry for my ignorance.

With .589 of lift you will need dual springs. That amount of lift would be too much to safely run singles (even if they are rated for .600).

+2 mean that your cam have 2 degrees of advance ground-in (advance = lsa - icl. In this case, lsa=112+2, so centerline should be 110). Your power will peak at a slightly lower RPM than a similar cam with no advance and you will also have more torque in the lower RPMs.

It means it has 2 degrees advance in the grind. If you wish to find more, call Trevor at TSP. He's a great guy and answers all questions.
This is a brand new cam and from what I've seen so far a step up on the 224/0.581/112lsa

Didn't these 224's lope like hell a few months ago? There's too many of these T-Rex and G5X3 cam threads around...
