TREX is in.....Piece of cake, thanks JMX
Well I finished my cam install last night putting the TREX (242/248) cam into the 7 along with double springs, underdrive pulley, ported oil pump, new timing chain and dropping the AC compressor. The swap went VERY easy with the JMX install site. It took me probably 10 hours from start to finish (not bad for the first time) and that included probably 1-2 hours because I had to drop the steering rack to be able to have to room to drop the oil pan so I could disconnect the pickup for the oil pump (I have my LS1 in an FD so it isnt the same).
The most time consuming part is the spring swap which I took my time on but still only took maybe 3 hours to do.
Turned the motor over by hand 2-3 times to make sure there were no piston/valve issues and it sounded good so I left the coil packs disconnected and cranked her over. No bad sounds from that so I plugged in the coil packs and took a deep breath.
Cranked her over and she fired right up but then died (stock tuning). Cranked her over again giving her a little gas to keep it from dying and she roared to life!! No problems. She had a little bit of noise for maybe 5-10 seconds but once the oil pressure came up she quited back down.
Note: If anyone else does this swap the new double springs, pushrods and cam are much "noisier" than the stock setup and makes it sound like a sewing machine on crack when you listen close.
I let it run for maybe 5 minutes keeping the revs up a little to bring it up to temp then I let off the gas and she kept running right at 950 RPMs. Nice lope to the exhaust too. I still need to reprogram the ECU but I am so happy it isnt even funny. It was actually a VERY easy swap, I dont know why anyone wouldnt do it on their own.
Now to get to the dyno and the track and see what she will run!!
Mike

Hopefully if I can get some tuning this weekend she will make her maiden voyage to the track. No more chance of telling people it is a rotary, the thing sounds like a prostock car through a full 3" exhaust minus the Cat

Thanks guys.
I havent been to the track yet I was lazy this weekend and went out drinking on the boat instead then it rained Monday.
I dont have a website (not computer literate enough) but would love to do one to show what I did. I have pics that show the car but I cant post them here cause I cant host them anywhere.
There are 2 guys I believe in the Dallas/Houston area that have done the same swap, go to torquecentral.com visit the V8RX7 section and look for Drewman.
Any computer guy want to make me a geocities website feel free I will send all the pics and info. I am jsut to stupid to do it myself
