Default this freakin sucksss

...My mechanic just called... I had a nasty tick in the motor so I took it in... I thought my problem was a bent pushrod... or maybe a screwed up rocker. Well he calls me today and says cylinder #6 is just pumping oil... he hasnt ripped apart the block or anything yet but the motor is fkd up bad... I need some advice on a route to take fixing this thing. I have a turbo setup that I havn't installed yet. Should I stroke out this block and build it up? Or would I be better off building a brand new block? I'd like to stay away from valvetrain right now because the money will be tight. I'm thinking about getting an iron block and having a company stroke it out and install a rotating assembly for me. Heres what I feel like I should buy.

Iron Block...???
Rotating Assembly... Still trying to figure out which
Reverse Split Cam
R Lifters... <-- because lifters are a bitch to get to...
I've already got Thunder pushrods

I just spoke to thunder... they quoted me 3800 for a built 346
4700 for a built 370
6700 for a built stroker 383
... thats a lot of freakin money

Hey Armegedon,Man you"re close to my home about 75 miles. Why don't you get a 6.0 get some good rods and pistons and use the stock crank. If you could get the 317 truck heads they"d be perfect for a turbo. If you go with the turbo talk to some of the guys in the forced induction section about a cam. There are some local guys that build ls1 around here with success.

If you are making an FI street motor, I'd stick with a 346 forged motor. Drop the compression and raise the boost to make your power. Your heads will work and if you have a custom cam, etc that can all be reused.

Make sure you are comparing apples to apples on what is included when getting pricing.

Ya, I've been researching all day... I spoke to Thunder & Tybrne. I've got a strong eye on ZL-402 Shortblock with Low Compression Pistons. They are going for $-3500. I'm going to use my stock heads in the meantime and get a reverse split cam. I've got thunder pushrods. I'm going to buy some upgraded springs/retainers/etc... With this setup I hope to run 10PSI on 93octane. If anybody has any suggestions they would be much appreciated.

sly check your pm brotha. Ya, to the guy that said it should be smoking... I noticed when he pointed out to me today... it was smoking like mad... oil dripping out of the exhaust. sucks to be me... My guess is I had some piston wash from it running crazy rich. thats the only thing I can think of. It just started ticking out of nowhere... not after I missed a shift or anything.
