More than likely you will need stock 7.400 but it is good to check it out.So it is a 50/50 on 7.400 or 7.350.

Why would you think he could possibly need pushrods shorter than stock?

It depends on the base circle of the cam and the amount how much the heads have been milled.

I've seen differences that sometimes I have to switch to 7.350's on stock headed cars to get .050 to .090 preload that I like on stock lifters.

63-7702-1 Comp Cams pushrod length checker. Adjustable from 6.800" to 7.800" in .050" increments. $19.95
Sale! $18.95
Use one of those, no more guessing.

Hey I got one of them. No need to guess on something so simple. If I did have to guess I would say 7.400's I had a .589 lift cam, unmilled heads and I ran 7.400's.

Currently my heads are milled .020 and I still use 7.400's.

I use 7.350 with .595 lift cam and 1.75 Pro Mag rockers...008-.010 preload
You should check it to be sure because of the cam base circle.
Check it with your stock ones and get shorter if the rockers arent riding correctly on the valve.
