front mount distributor for Gen III, LS1
I purchased a book at barns and noble this weekend, its titled:
How to Build High-Performance Chevy LS1/LS6 V-8s
Modifying and Tuning Gen III Engines for GM Cars & Pickups
the book is very informative and has answered a lot of questions i've had about the gen iii motors, ISBN:1-884089-84-4
i reccomend it to anyone wanting to know more about these motors, it was only $20.00
okay, on page number 85, the caption reads:
This distributor/fuel-pump drive offered by GM Performance Parts is a simple solution to the ignition system issue. It's being used in racing, but will work perfectly on a street rod, muscle car, or off-road vehicle.
looking at the picture, the distributor cap says MSD and the base of the distributor says MSD on it.
ive searched hi and low on the internet for any information about this and have found zero. has anyone else heard about this or seen where to find the setup?

thanks for the information, I found the drive assembly
http://wegnerautomotive.com/wegnerautomotive/
its $548.95 for the front cover and drive assembly, from the looks if it, it uses a standard small chevy distributor, not sure about fuel pump, neat info for someone going that route. not a lot of info on the website, as to what is messes with. im guessing have to go with electric water pump or maybe move it forward, this messing with the belt drive. anywho, nice info.

Cooler yet is their standalone ignition system that uses DIS coils and the factory crank sensor and cps for $646. Great clean look for a carbed application.

I stopped by Keith Craft racing back in september while on a trip to plano Texas, They had one mounted on their Camaro's 408.. I asked the kid that worked there about it and he said that they where having some tunning issues with it, but i sure looked cool

It was initially designed for racing where an untouched "spec" motor must be used if I'm not mistaken. The idea was to give those guys an engine that would not need to be freshened as often, but they didn't want to have them deal with electric fuel pressure pumps, etc. Trying to keep it as similar to their old setups as possible.
