Question of cam with stock heads????
Hey guys,
I know this subject has been discussed often, but heres what i am wanting and i cant find the answer in the search. I got a 2000 trans am ws6 6spd with 22k. I got loudmouth 2 and slp lid. I am want to do a cam and headers with some 4.10's in the rear. I know i am gunna get hooker headers and motive 4.10's. I am confussed on what kind of cam? I want something that has a good lope and makes some power. I want to just change the springs and pushrod to go with the cam nothing else and keep the stock heads. I am looken at the Comp cam custom grind 224 .581 112lsa or the TR 224. I dont know if a TRex cam would be good or what else would be good? I also am gunna prolly spray it with a wet 50-75 shot. Any suggestions would help. It wont see much track, just street and i wanna be around 400rwhp or a lil more.
peace rob

TR 224 w/ 114 or 112LSA will get you there. from what I hear its the best overall cam around for keeping stock heads, making good power, and retaining drivability. Thats the one I am gonna get soon too.

Yeah the only reason i was considering the comp cam, is because it has a lil more lift on both exhaust and intake and bout 80 bucks cheaper, and what is the difference between 112lsa and 114lsa?

I had the Comp 224/580 114 in my A4. Great sounding idle. Cam and headers gained me about 60 hp. Installed the Comp 918 sprngs at the same time.
Did heads a while later. They really woke it up!!

it looks like you would want something smaller than the trex cam if you are considerings a 224 cam. the difference between 112 and 114 is the 112 is recommended more for m6 cars and the 114 is recommended for a4 cars and cars with n20.. wherever you buy the cam just ask for their advice on which lsa to go with. and if you want to hear the idles and the sounds of the cam go to ls1sounds.com they have the TR224 and other comp cams on there. good luck

I was going to go with Comp cams...after many nights of reading here and asking many questions I ended up going with a Futral F14. I'm also going with 5.3 heads fully ported and reworked heads so the F14 will make for some nice HP, but Futral makes other cams that might work well for you?

So say if i am gunna run a 50 wet shot if N20 or you know when someone has a big mouth max 75 shot would it be wise to go with the 114 or since i have a m6 go with the 112 and still do the N20?just wondering.Yeah and i dont really wanna do a trex i think a too big of cam for what i want. also i may in the future after the cam install do head, but that may be far future, the cam only with headers in soon.
