The FM13 is far from being too big for a daily driver.

I'm a stalled auto(TCI 3800) and have this cam and absolutely love it. The sound is awsome, the power is awsome and the driviblity is awsome, aside from some surging at lower speed/rpms it drives totally like stock. My buddy with a SS and a MSv3 cant believe how well my car drives, for an auto (he is a m6).

No issues at all and I do driver it daily... Hot start-ups can want to die when I roll to a stop. I need to just spend the time and get the LTITs and STITs worked out with the IAT... Otherwise GREAT cam selection...

I guess I am an owner of an F14...although it's still with my builder along with my heads
In my selection process I did very similar to what you are doing. I was torn between the F13 and F14. Since my car is not truely a DD I opted for the more rowdy sound of the F14.
Are you planning on swapping rear end gears?
How will you tune?
In all my research, those are the two vital questions that need to be answered.
Good luck.

Running the 14 here, no real issues, let it "find" idle in the morning when is cold, just like 30seconds or so, thenits good to go for the rest of the day.
If it was idled higher I doubt I'd have to wait very long, but I like the 800rpm lope

I installed my f13 over the weekend, drove it today for the first time. I was rather surprised how well it drove on stock tuning. After about an hour or so of tuning it has gotten better. So I am going to go with it would work perfect for a daily driver.

I have had a few cams in my car and I will say the F13 is awsome. The power and drivability of it are bar none. It drives about the same as my 224 did when I had it. I am really impressed with it and would recommend it to anyone. Just get a good tune done with it. For those of you looking at the predator, don't waste your time. I know of several guys that have waited MONTHS for a custom tune and still haven't received it. Just get a good tuning program like EFILIVE or HPTuners and tune it yourself or pay to have a mail order tune done by Alan.

FM13 is a great daily driver cam. Drove mine on the stock tune for a couple months with no probs. Got it tuned and it drives so well its hardly noticeable, except for the idle

thats awesome guys, thanks for the feedback... I will definatly be buying one of these.
What do I need to go with the cam? Springs, rods, oil pump? Recommend everything that YOU would do in my situation. I want to play it safe. Brands, etc. would be great
Thanks

I'd do the cam, springs, pushrods, oil pump if you have a 98-2000 and havn't already put in a ported LS6 pump, and make sure you get all your gaskets(front seal, timing chain, the 2 metal water pump ones) and the crank bolt.

i would go with the PRC dual spring kit w/ the Ti retainers (have it in my car on stock cam ) very nice looking set and VERY good price. i would also recommend some hardened/chromoly pushrods and an LS2 timing chain (for stock sprockets).
your car being a 99 WILL need the slightly more expensive metal water pump gaskets (98's are paper). since your car is a golden oldie like mine, a ported ls6 oilpump will do you nicley.
you'll need a valvespring compressor. there's numerous tools sold on these boards by members taht work well (i.e. "Larry Tool") and crane also sells a nice valvespring compressor that does 2 at one time. also need some dowel rods to hold the lifters in place when you remove the old cam.
also need all the stuff mentioned above that i diddnt
FMS sells most of this stuff except for the ls2 chain, which can be picked up from SDPC (board sponser ~~~~~~>) for 30$
ls1howto.com has a nice writeup if you diddnt know about that
