Default Anyone Using Katech Rod Bolts?

Could you share your experiences with them? Were the rods resized? Any other issues to worry about? Anyone drop the Kmember and install them with the engine still in the car?

I would like to hear also!

I just ordered a set. It says on their web site that no resizing is nesessary. They told me on the phone that they developed the bolts in conjunction with GM for their ASA engines. The Katech guy I talked to said there were no issues to worry about, just take out the stock bolts and torque the Katechs to 50 lb-ft. And don't cut your hands on any sharp metal, LOL !

He told me the engine would be reliable to 7000 rpm easy, perhaps 7200 rpm, although there may be other factors that come into play that high. I already run it to 7000 rpm on the stock bolts, but was just looking for some piece of mind. I will be installing mine with the engine on an engine stand, but dropping the K-member with the engine and tranny out the bottom.

I'm running Katech rodbolts. I put mine in while i had the motor out w/ no mods to the rods. So far I've taken my stock bottom end w/ katech bolts to 6800 with out a problem. I plan on taking it to 7000 as so as i get my tune down. For $150 they are good to have for a little more piece of mind.

I want to know if it takes the journal out of round like the ARP ones do, and how well these hold up comparitively.

I have run them before. I eventually spun a rod bearing but I think it was more due to oiling problems. I was happy with Katech bolts.

LPE uses them on their $2200 motor, which is based on the ASA motor as they just got the contract for the 6th or 7th year to do ASA.

I think the Katechs are as good or better than the ARP bolts

I have them and did not resize the rods. The car has seen multiple 6900 - 7100 rpm blasts. When I talked to Katech they told me there was no need to resize the rods. I did the install with the engine in the car during a K Member swap. Very easy to do with the K Member out.

I have done the ARP bolts a couple of times with the motor in the car worked out fine.
