Default Bought suposed Trex v2 cam, numbers ground off, WTF how can i tell?

Yup why is it i always wind up getting stuck with bootlegged *** cams. Bought a TREX V2 from some member and the thing looks like a ***** compared to my G5x2 i just sold. I swear the lobes arent as tall and the numbers are ground off the end, but there are some numbers. Is this a Trex v2 knock off by comp or does thunder usually do this?

I know i can send it to someone and have them spec it,,, but i NEED to install a damn cam in my engine ASAP so i can drop it in the car...

Stamped numbers read : "2871 G"
Scribed numbers read: D197304

242.9/248.6 .609/.613 110.7* lsa

It was doctored on 10/25/04. It is indeed a TREX cam, based on the serial numbers.

Phew, i feel much better now.

Into the engine she goes!

Does thunder do that grind action with all the Trex cams? Or maybe did this guy do that for stealth reasons maybe?

PS, thanks!

Not always. I PM'd him the serial # off of a TR cam I had and he read the PM and ignored it.

Sorry about that. I typically get 10-15 PMs a day and it takes me awhile to get back to all of them. Unfortunately, it looks like yours got missed. Please send me the serial # again and I'll be sure to take care of it first thing Tuesday when I come back from holiday weekend.

Thanks, I'll get the # and PM it again. I thought maybe it was because I bought the cam used and not from TR that you didn't reply. Although I have bought a couple of new TR cams too. Just a little frustrating when you get a read receipt on a PM and no reply at all especially when I see you and TR helping others.

90% of the cam requests I get are for used cams. It makes no difference if it was new or used. Your PM just got lost in the shuffle. More than likely it was sent during the school semester. I have very little free time and PMs take a good bit longer to reply to. Again, I apologize about that. Just send it over at your earliest convenience and I'll take care of it.

LMMFAO!!!!!

I find it outragiously funny that you thought the cam was a "*****" by visually "looking" at the lobe "size"

The difference in lobe size is gonna be small. Lift is advertised at the valve, and the rockers are 1.7 so the lobes are not that tall and the difference in lift between a stock cam (0.5") and T-rex (0.6") isn't something you will be able to see. At least I can't. I took a quick look and compared my MS3 to my stocker during the swap and couldn't tell a difference in size.

At least you found out exactly what you have.
