Default Stock LS1 bottom end- What is it good too?

I was reading in a magazine that the stock lower end is good to 1000 horsepower. Has anyone heard that or tested it?

Ive never heard of an LS1 failure due to power. RPM and detonation is what kills them.

The stock crank will take that much hp, but i think that's about the only stock parts (sans block) that will.

^^^ what he said. There's a Camaro in Vegas pushing 625 to the wheels on a rear-mount turbo set-up *stock engine* (LOTS of cooling mods like Intercooler and Meth kit)... it's on a very conservative tune right now and they're still working it up to it's potential... they know the second that thing detonates, it's toast.

The highest RWHP number I've seen out of a stock motor before it popped was 618 w/a twin turbo setup.

my horse numbers were kept low with a rich tune, but the torque numbers are decent.

I am making 550rwhp on my stock bottom end. Procharged cam and I don't get any knock! I want more too, but worry how much more the car can take revving to 7k rpms at the track and 8.5psi of boost!

so long as you keep an eye on your fueling and timing you should be ok, but If I had a FI setup I wouldnt bother with high RPM because all you have to do is up the boost to gain power, in contrast to an N/A set up where the bigger you go the higher you have to rev.
