Default Installed height and spring pressure?

What installed height are you guys running, with what springs, and what kinda pressure are you seeing at that shimmed height? Mostly looking for guys with healthy cams that turn some good RPM's. Thanks.

John

John different cams require different pressures. You need to check with the cam manufacture. Any good Cam company designs a spring for them(pressure, size)

I'm aware of that Mike. Wanted to see if others had experimented with more pressure, shimming closer to coil bind, etc.

Valve springs are one of the most critical and most over-looked components in your engine. They must be matched to your cam in order for the engine to reach its full potential. It does absolutely no good to install a cam that will RPM to 8000, if you do not have the correct springs.(To much or to little spring pressure) The use of the wrong valve springs is one of the most common causes of engine failure. Another is the incorrect installation of the valve springs. I would stick with the recommended pressures John unless your racing in competetion and need that extra .001

Cam designers do this for a living

Thanks for the lesson. I find it amusing you take the time to repeat the obvious. Tell bubba he did a good job typing that for you!
