Default I eyelashed my pistons. WTF????

So the car has been running great for about 10k miles or so since the cam install at Speed Demon in Houston. Specs are 232/236 112LSA 600 lift. STOCK HEADS.

The car starts running like crap all of a sudden and doesn't want to stay on . When I gave it some gas, you can feel the EXTREME loss of power. I did some searches on here and found that maybe I bent some valves, so I pull the heads. MY PISTONS ARE EYELASHED .

What else could it be wrong with my car?
I am replacing the heads and cam now and want to make sure I do everything right, myself this time.

it may have floated the valves? what springs did they use when they did the cam swap?

Valvesprings could have not been stout enough. Did you mis-shift and over-rev it or somthing?

Maby they installed the cam a tooth off or somthing? Check the cam alignment before you pull the timing chain off.

Do you have the cam card? Maby it was ground wrong.

It did over-rev a couple of times too. It felt like my tranny was going as well. It just wouldn't shift into the next gear without over-reving. My car wouldn't stay on and idle for a day or 2 as well. Then one day it started up again.

It's pretty weird so I decided to change out the heads and the cam.

Is there anything else I should be worried about besides my valvetrain? Is there a way that I could have done some serious engine damage?

Post a pic. (can crack pistons) depends how often and hard it kissed.

I would change lifters as well, flycut your pistons, get your heads refreshed, stick the cam back in and start over.

I was running a 601 lift cam on comp 918's. The lifters looked good along with the springs, pushrods and retainers.

I am going to run the Dart 225's and the MS3 now and was told flycutting wasn't necessary. I am getting the Dual PRC springs this time(650 lift) and new pushrods and making sure I do everything myself.

The pistons are only eyelashed on the intake side. With this new setup, It is my understanding that I should be fine. I will check PTV as well.

I'm no expert, but I'm pretty sure you want to run a double spring setup with anything NEAR .600 lift if you plan on putting 10k miles on 'em. If you're an A4 and over-rev, the consequences aren't as severe as an M6 missing a shift. My guess is the springs didn't hold up well to 10k miles of use on a .600 lift cam.

The 918 is good to .625, so I don't think it's a problem. Also less valvetrain mass than the doubles.

I broke a Manley spring about two years ago and decided to swap over to 918s. I'm running the TR224 cam (.560/565 lift) and ported, milled heads. I ran into an issue swapping the springs and had to pull the head due to a snapped bolt in the back exhaust valve on the driver's side. When the head came off I saw that I had tiny 'eyebrows' in all four of the intake locations, but none of them were shiny. My quess is that the Manley springs weren't up to the task and allowed valve float which mixed with a couple rev-limiter burnouts and you can see why they kissed.

At first I was shitting myself about p-v clearance, but I haven't had any issues since switching springs so who knows.

If they are small, and aren't shiny, it means that it was an isolated incident since they are not constantly hitting, exposing fresh shiny metal. But pics would help.

they aren't shiny and aren't real big. I hope there isn't any permanent damage to the pistons. I will put this new combo together and hopefully everything will be smooth again

918's are fine at .600 lift.

that's what I thought also. You see my concern now? Can it be something else causing this to happen? Why was my car not shifting when it was supposed to? Dropped tune?
