Default Who can be build me a forged 347 shortblock for the cheapest?

Currently I have a price quote from HPE for around $2500 for a built forged 347. Can any other shop beat that?

Was it agostino that has been having a bad rep lately regarding ripping customers off? I hate to pass something on while not fully knowing the story myself but i am pretty sure that they have had numerous complaints from a few of our board members. If this is not correct then i appoligize ahead of time as i know words like this can damage a rep.

I dont know, I havnt been paying attention, but I would suggest checking the rep of any shop before commiting. If they are dicking people over, I apologize for the poor suggestion. Now if only that search button worked.

Whomever is willing to assemble the lowest quality setup around.

Seriously - you get what you pay for. $3K is the going rate for a quality buildup. Forged Mahle pistons, Compstar rings, etc.

Good luck.

Search works, however its severly castrated. Only searches the last week or two, as it appears.

Good info to know.

Freaky, wernt you gonna spring for a 402/408? What happened to that? If not, maybe you might look into an iron block 402 for a measly grand more. It would be hard to pass up if it were me. With that f14 cam it would probably have stock like street manners, but still lope a good bit. You could last for a little while on stock heads with tons of room for improvement later on...

I was yearning for a 402 but money wise, a forged 347 or similiar is more attainable. I'm looking to ditch the stock heads so I'm looking to spend around $2000-$3000 on the short block and another $1000-$2000 on heads.

I know it's tempting to go with the 402 but I only have about $5000 to play with

Just make sure you get it built to take what you want to do with it. I've had way too many built motor's come here blown because they pushed them past what they were made for. The theory of you get what you pay for is good to an extent. Some places charge way too much.

HPE, Stenod, SDPC, Combination Motorsports, Ftural, Rapid, LME, Cartek, TSP, W2W, MTI, Speed Inc, Race Engine Development, LG Motorsports, Thunder, Katech, are all great engine builders. Sorry if I left anyone out, but I just threw that list together off the order of the banners on the side.
