That's the part number and about the right price. I got my from gmpartscheap.com. Hopefully I'm allowed to say that....not sure sponsors sell parts like that.

That doesn't look like an actual GM part number. It should just be an 8 or 7 digit number.

Are these any better than stock LS1 lifter trays?

I asked this in the LS2 forum about a month ago. I don't remember the difference, but I think the LS2 is missing some of the webs that strengthen the LS1 version.

Found it, here's the link:

I can not find anything in this thread that would imply that the LS1 tray version is in any way better than the LS2 tray version. Can you please explain?

This is all that I found "The ls2 block has cast ribs that interfer if you use ls1 trays. the ls2 trays have molded recesses for clearance around the ribs." But this only states that the LS2 block has issues when trying to use the ls1 lifter trays, I dont see anything about the trays themselves!

Or maybe I am missing something..................

If I remember, and have time, I'll try to post comparison photos of the two types.

No, don't think you are missing anything. Short of the 01 #10, there doesn't appear to be any advantage of the LS2 over the LS1.

The (LS2) lifter trays will fit in a (LS1) block but the (LS1) lifter trays will not fit a (LS2) block. Because of the redesign of the LS2 block

I understand that, but can someone verify that there is no advantage to buy one over another one. Like all the LS1 block owners building new engines, would the LS2 be considered an upgrade? Are they the same thickness?

Someone was going to post pics!

The only reason I am interested is that some people have had issues with lifters turning in the retainers and causing a mess in the engine. Since they are relatively close in price it would be interesting to know if one is more prone to failing!

Quick Reply: LS2 lifter tray (retainer) part number?
