Default crankshaft pulley bolt-cam install

Installing a new cam...

Why does the install guide recommend this?

"Highly Recommended: Longer crankshaft pulley bolt, M16 x 2.0 pitch x 120mm long"

The longer bolt will help seat the pulley onto the snout without the possibility of screwing up the threads.

I would highly suggest getting one....it is possible to do it without it (which is what I did) but makes it more difficult

Get it, trust me on this one.

If you don't I will personally hunt you down and kill you because it's not worth it to change out the crank pulley without one (ask me how I know this).

Don't get the longer bolt though, get a peice of threaded rod and cut it to the proper length. Thread this piece of rod ALL WAY into the crank, and then use a nut and couple inch long piece of pipe (acting as a spacer) to put the crank pulley on.

Definitely get one.

I bought mine from the local hardware store for $3.20. Worth every penney.

There is a tool that you can get and it is well worth the money. There are some members that make their own as well.

Yep. I've had the pulley off about 4 times. Grab yourself a threaded rod and do it up that way. Much better.

Just grab the thread specs. I used a selection of thick stainless washers I had laying around to provide the appropriate spacing necessary to get to the nut.

Good luck man.

I'm too lazy to go on the site and find the p/n's, but the threaded rod and nuts should be M16X2.0. Get extra thick washers that will fit over the threaded rod and find some pipe locally. That should be all you need.
