Camshaft Questions
I want to get a cam installed. I'm currently at 340rwhp, and I'm trying to get around 380-400rwhp with the cam, but still have the car be civilized, I'm not really all that familiar w/ cam installs, so I would like some suggestions on what are some good cams to look at and all I would need to get for the cam itself, and anything I might need to upgrade to prevent any problems that might get caused from having the cam installed, and about how much I would be looking to spend for parts/labor on install.
I was looking at the cam kit offered by SLP (pt# 51013A), any comments on that particular one, or suggestions on a different setup?

Here ya go man. I know there is a lot of info in here, but it will make your selection process go a lot easier. https://ls1tech.com/forums/generation-iii-internal-engine/327734-cam-guide.html

I was always wondering, why is it most people here seem to not like SLP, is it because of the quality of the product or cause they seem so pricy for their stuff. Well I looked around and does anyone have an opinion about the Texas Speed Magic Stick 3 or the Texas Speed Torquer v.2?

I thought you said civilized?
400rwhp w/ just adding a cam is going to be anything BUT civilized. A 224 or 225 cam will put you to about 370rwhp and still be tame to drive. Go bigger, and find a great tuner if you want, but if it's truly a DD, you'll want to stay realitively small on the Cam. Cam + heads can get you where you want to be though. Check out H/C packages.
Good luck on your buildup!!

Well, after doing research and talking to the guy who will be installing it for me, I am going w/ the TR 224/227-114 cam kit, does anyone have any idea about how much rwhp I should expect to be around with the setup I have?

If you want to get around 400rwhp, then I suggest you get your heads milled with a thinner gasket for an 11.0>11.2 :1 SCR
That will definately get you in the range you desire.
Or just get a set of Patriot/Livernois/TSP LS2/LS6 (243) casting stage 1 (stock valve) milled to 61 cc (~$975 with 918's), that will take you over 400 rwhp.
Otherwise as mentionned above, you'll need a bigger cam (TSP 232/234, FM 13 or similar) if you go cam only.
