Default Guys with TEA 1.5 5.3L's and 224 cam

I have just recently installed TEA Stage 1.5 5.3L heads to replace the MTI ones that were screwed up. On those heads and the TR224 on a 112LSA cam, car made 408 hp and 404 tq. Right now I don't have a tune on the new TEA's, however the car seems to be running better.

What kind of power/torque is everyone with this set up making? All my other mods are in sig.

The day after installing the heads I took it to the track. No problems with the heads at all, and still drove the car home over 90 miles no problem. I ran a best of 12.54 @ 113, with 60' ranging from 1.9-2.0's. Is this a little slow, or should it drop some time with a tune?

That does sound a little slow to me. My friend has a similar setup, only with stock heads and slightly lower #'s and runs 11.8 @ 119 mph. Also, I saw a few guys at the track the other day with just longtubes running mid 12's. IMO, your car should be good for some better times.

I suppose ET's could depend on track and other factors. The car that ran 11.8 @ 119, was it an auto? I know autos are going to run better ET's.

M6 with 12 bolt and slicks. I do have a couple of friends with A4's that run 12.8's with a converter, stock manifolds and street tires. You are making 70+ more rwhp, and should be more than .3 ahead of them. I'm not trying to say your times suck.....just that there's more in your car than what it's running.

Stock 10-bolt and Nitto's. The best 60' I managed was 1.94. Any suggestions on getting better 60's on a M6, like launch RPM and clutch slippage?

Our setups are kinda similar. Ran 12.4 @ 116 w 2.1 60s last Sat on my worn D3's. Track prep was pretty bad too boot. You can't really make too many assumptions till the car is tuned. I know for sure some lower gears will really help my setup out. I'm crossing the traps in 4th @ barely 5300rpms. With some tire and trapping 4th @ 6500rpms it should net 11's easily with a few more mph.

I'm sure you can improve if your willing to sacrifice the 10 bolt. It's different when you have a 12 bolt w/ slicks and can dump the clutch at 5500 rpm. Your car should be good for 11's if you are willing to beat on it.

Well, I had the same setup, but in an automatic car with a 3500 stall. On 275/40/17 nittos and full weight I ran 12.01 @ 113.4 and never had the car tuned. It made 346/346 on a Mustang Dyno that way. My 60's were 1.69-1.71s.

You could probably get away with a little bigger cam with those heads and retain good drivability...something like a 230/234....they flow well.

with the same setup, but with a 224/224 114 cam mine dynoed 399.9

i went to the track a few times after putting the heads on, but i could only pull 11.5s@118 since my 60ft was limited on the nittos to 1.60's at the time. If it matters with just the 224 cam the car went 11.50@117 but that was on a 1.55 60ft and awesome weather. On street tires cam only the car went 12.01@114 on a 1.74 60'

your 60's is killing you.. cut a 1.6x atleast and you would be in the 11.8-12.2 range easy

1.9's in a A4 is gonna suk MPH and ET wise. The better your 60ft the higher your mph and the better the ET will be on a A4

Mines a M6 car, so 60's are going to be tough till I get a new rear. I was happy that I broke under 2.0 for the first time. I know the times seem to be a little slow and the MPH also. I'm also curoius as to what kind of power those with similar mods are putting down. With the MTI heads that were trashed the car put down 408hp and 404tq. Should I expect more than that with the TEA's?

I dynoed 427rwhp and 386rwtq with mods in sig and a 90/90. Ran time in sig. with out the 90/90. I would only run TEA prepped heads on my car regardless of brand name.
