Get the blower first, when you add heads you want to lower the compression, to run more boost !

I went with MTI's lq9/6.0l heads, verry happy hith the product and the customer service. With the pistons I have (-2cc) it put me around 9.1-1 compression. If you have the money the AFR's 225's I beleve have a bigger combustion chamber as well, some one else might chime in on that. Cam: you want more exhaust lift and duration than intake, and a lsa in the 115-117 range. Do the H/C first get every thing running right and then slap the blower to it. Also get your self ARP head studs and a set of cometic head gaskets.

Wouldn't it be smarter to forge out his bottom end before doing the H/C and S/C? That way he could do a stroker (if he wanted) and not having to worry about problems down the road.

I would probably recommend forging the bottom end too

oh i would like to forge the bottom end first but i just want some quick big power and then ill forge everything. im gonna drive it till i blow the bottom end. i want all the top end and power adder first so then when and if i do blow anything on the bottom end ill get a boost built shortblock. thats just my plans. but anyways ya im liking the AFRs but for valvetrain what would i want? higher exhaust lift than intake on the cam.....head studs...what type of lifters? rockers? springs? push rods? i want the best and i can pay for it.

AFR 225's with 72 cc chambers, 224/230 bumpstick with 114/115 lsa. Double springs, chrome moly pushrods, stock lifters, arp head studs. I went with stock gm mls gaskets, heard some bad things bout the cometics.

Why not just get the blower now? You really don't need heads and cam for a blower application, it's a waste of money IMO. I would put the Head and Cam fund towards the blower and then start saving for a bottom end.

You might want to rethink your plan. Your going to pay twice the money for your set up when you send a piston in to your brand new heads .

Yeah, I agree.
First, forge the bottom, then heads/cam/blower.

A large chamber head will just hurt your power, and you'll be dissapointed.

Unless you do not want to shoot more than 8 psi, then still, I would get the blower first and you can do that with normal compression.
So in that case, 224/228 with out of box AFR 205's (that should get you a good 50rwhp) then add blower for no more than 8 psi.

I agree...

If he keeps his boost conservative at 7-8 lbs, keeps timing at 17/18 degrees and keeps his air fuel ratio a little fat 11.5-11.8:1 he should be ok on a stock bottom end for a little while.
Even with a safe conservative tune ya gotta remember the stock pistons are cast and its usually the ringlands that fail.
