Default Sold my old Cam, need help picking a new one!!

Alright guys you might of seen my previous post where i wasnt sure if i should keep my current cam which was a 232/238 595/605 on a 114..Well i sold it and now i wanna know what should i pick up. Im gonna be getting it custom ground by a shop by my house. So im thinking of something like a 231/237 595/605 112. This is going in the car in my sig. Right now i do daily drive it, however everywhere i go isnt far. I drive mainly like 20 miles a day. More during the summer when its nicer out. If anyone has any suggestions on what i should get please let me know. Thanks

What kind of idle quality are you looking for? Are you wanting something comparable to what you had, or are you wanting to step it up with some added power? The 231/237 cam you're talking about isn't going to make anymore power than the 232/238 you had. What are you looking to accomplish with your cam swap? Let me know, and I'll help you pick a cam to work with what you're wanting to accomplish. You can call, PM, or e-mail me at trevor@texas-speed.com

Get the newer version of that in the form of 233/239. They make about the same identical power as well. both will enjoy some spray being blown at them also.

Neither could I at the time. That is why you work on the trade system. You get the Ms3....there is a good chance that you will be able to find someone with a different flavor of cam that would trade you straight up for it. or the 231/237 or 233/239....and so on. Money is really an issue one time. And that is the intial time through.

Jake answer me these questions....

Will you be running heads- if so what kind?
What 1/4 are you looking to hit?
Do you want mean loud sound, or a subtle cam?
What is a future goal of yours?
what kind of power are yiu hoping to get cam only/ heads and cam?
Do you really want a CUSTOM cam or an immitation cam?
Stock rockers? or other future mods or major power adders like Turbos, nitrous, blowers?

i'm not looking for the thread, i've been in there too complex
I want the straight foreward blunt answers from jake himself- no like suggestions from what he might want and might like jsut EXACTLY what he plans to do. Because if he doesnt state it now- then how is he going to afford to run through cams like underwear?

It'll cost him more money in the long run if he contradicts himself now and has little suggestions corrupt his original plan. so i figure he gives Exactly what he wants and do like i did and put different cam information together, specs, ramp rates, size, grinds, timing, and put it together and figure out a REAL custom cam not an imitation to meet his requirement

he needs to know exactly what his goals are like several of his buds have stated- so i'm looking to pinpoint a resolution. if he was looking daily driver run mid 11's on a geared 6 speed w/ slicks, then he wouldnt need too big a cam maybe a 228/232 on a 112 if he wanted a real aggressive sound. The exhaust duration plays a big role in lope it seems, for instance cars like mine w/ 8* splits sound more aggressive then those w/ 2* splits or a small exhaust duration compared to the intake. hense the 231/237 like hes gone on about, as well as the cam he sold. If hes looking to run decent times with nothing to crazy and subtle w/ a lope go smaller itll work well w/ heads. If he wants nitrous, go w/ the wide split and wider lsa for him to more easily shift the 6 speed. Blower or turbo not such a wide split wider LSA to get rid of most valve overlap. If he doesnt want to spin the motor high, stay smaller cam w/a narrower LSA. wants an easy idle that lopes but doesnt feel like a harley at a light get the wider LSA, soudn diff wont be much more unique. 1.8 rodkrs will need different ramp rate than 1.7's. Some cams dont worka as well w/ heads like other i.e. t-rex vs. HPE S cam or other largeer cams. G5X4, G5XB, soo amny factors so i need jakes palns

"Will you be running heads- if so what kind?"
Im going to be running the stock heads

"What 1/4 are you looking to hit?"
Dont really care, its a street car.

"Do you want mean loud sound, or a subtle cam?"
mean loud sound

"What is a future goal of yours?"
Right now i just want a fast, street car, until i get enough power saved up and i do a turbo

"what kind of power are yiu hoping to get cam only/ heads and cam?"
375+

"Do you really want a CUSTOM cam or an immitation cam?"
Whatever is best for me.

"Stock rockers? or other future mods or major power adders like Turbos, nitrous, blowers?"

Stock rockers right now, maybe some nitrous. Down the road turbo kit

Sounds like you should have kept the cam you just sold. I'll sell you a TSP 225 that makes 385-390hp with stock heads. Rough idle included.
