Are you 100% positive that you didn't spill any on the exhaust? Even a few small drops could cause a potent smell temporarily.

Aside from that, make sure that your oil cap is tight and look around the valve covers to make sure none is leaking. I have heard that synthetic oil will find leaks long before conventional oil, but there are plenty of us here that use Mobil1 without issue.

If its overfilled enough, the crank could throw more oil on cyl. walls...causing a burning smell. Causes air bubbles too and bad for bearings. I could see if it was a full quart over but you say "a little". Not really sure. I have always ran Mobil 1 Syn. as did the prev. owner and have never noticed a smell....Good Luck

I have about 6 quarts of oil in it and yesterday,i checked and didn't see any leaks anywhere.. i opened the hood and revved it and smelled.. there wasn't any smell until i revved it a couple times then i smelled the smell.. why do you think i only smelled it when i revved..is it pushing oil out somewhere? if so where do you think.

the only other thing I can think of is that you have a real small leak that did not show up before using the thicker conventional oil such as a valve cover gasket or something like that but will now show up with synthetic because it natrually flows better and it is thinner at lower tempratures.
