Which springs to go with..........Need help.
I'm doing a cam install on my '99 vette with 23000 miles, and i need to be pointed in the right direction. the specs on my cam are that it's a compcams custom grind, 228/230 .590/.595 lift on a 113 LSA. I know that the compcams 918 springs are rated to .600 lift, so will they be sufficient in this application, or do I need added security by installing the 921 dual springs? Some say that the 921's would be overkill, especially on stock lifters. Any help any of you members can provide would be very appreciative. Thanks.

I'd go with the 918's. They used to be rated higher, but the number was lowered when the duals came out. Thunder Racing recomended I use the 918's on a .600" lift cam.
And believe me, I asked a thousand times if he was beyond sure.
Good luck!!

I would use CompCams 26918's cause if you use duals you will lose power
More spring tension= the more the crank has to try to get the cam to move
As long as you are not floating valves, you will be alright
And of coarse the add spring tension will put more pressure on the Plunger of the stock hydraulic lifter

duals do not cost you any horsepower, there is always a spring closing at the same time one is opening, its a balanced system, doesnt matter what spring you use,it wont cost you any more power.

There are a couple of sets of PSI beehive springs in the for sale section with titanium retainers that were removed from Dart heads. They are fabulous springs and stiffer than 918's. Retainer is only 6.6 gms. Might want to consider these as well. I have been thinking of picking up an extra set.
