Default LS1 SS - Horsepower TV Build

Hey guys, I believe this was really old but they are airing it on TV right now... Does anyone know what they were hearing in the engine that prompted them to tear it down? I missed it.

Thanks!!!

They built a low compression engine for a blower. Funny thing is I have yet to see a blower on it.

I think they build it lower compression, but then run it N/A. Then in a later episode they put air ride on it.

Yea, they put a procharger on it, and tuned it with HP Tuners, it made decent power.

Oh yes, now I remember. It was funny because that young kid on there added 1 more degree of timing and it picked up over 50hp. I was like no way.

Yeah, LOL That is so funny... They know EVERYTHING. They get so excited about spending too much money on decent parts, that gain you like .1rwhp. 1º doesn't get you 50rwhp, period.

I'm sure those guys have to use certian parts per say of sponsers, and i would guess they get most for free and in return they have to advertise it.

it was a tick.. the car was a 98 i believe with 80k on it.. they originally put on a fast with the 78mm tb, hooker longtubes and a flowmaster cat back lol.. they said it was putting about 360 to the ground.. next round of mods was the procharger, dont remember if it was a p1 or d1, then fast 90, and yeah it was making 470 or something and he added some timing and got 530 haha... they also put in a built tranny, and expensive clutch and a 9in or 12 bolt i forget.. They said they didnt want to take it to the track because they would have had to change the suspension and put some big slicks possibly tub it to get some traction...

So throughout the whole thing im thinking.. Flowmaster catback, why? How is it making 360 to the wheels with bolt ons? And if that guy witht he 1500hp black trans am with the procharger is running 10.5 in tires on basically stock suspension, why do they need to tub it..

Well, at least it was an ls1....

That show is strickly advertising without a shred of honesty or crediibity.

I saw an episode where they took a new C5 and dyno'd it at 250. They did a cheesy bolt-on and then it dyno'd at 295. 45 rwhp from their mod! I suspect the before and after numbers were 295 and they did anything they could to make the sponsor's product look good.
