Default AFR 205 CC question.

I tried serching for this and no luck. Is there a site or chart where it shows how much you need to mill off to get a certain cc combustion chamber? Or do you just mill a couple thou and keep checking it?

Each .006 that you mill = 1cc. So for instance to take the 66cc chamber to 63cc mill .018.

Make sure you use the right equipment to mill the Alum heads and for a nice finish.
I hope you have done this before.

I can see it coming in the FOR SALE section:

"AFR paperweights: kinda wobbly on table, but you can have them for a deal at $2100."

Well the thing about milling heads is that you can't take a few cuts to get the speed and feed set right. Mine are milled .024 and I am sure that wasn't acheived by taking 3 or 4 cuts. You better have that **** dialed in before the cutter touches the aluminum, cause it will be too late afterwards.

This is great info. I PM'ed Mamo about this yesterday. Out of the box the AFR 205's are 66 and mine are milled .020 which means I am at 62.67. Very nice!! Need a little a little more milling for the G5X3 then.
Thanks,

J.R.

If you would have looked at the company that sells these heads website, you could have found the answer. Plus you get a lot more info

http://www.airflowresearch.com/205_mongoose.php

Angle Mill (milling available) .008" per cc
Flat Mill (milling available) .006" per cc

Smart move. You might as well while the heads are off. That way you have options to go bigger on the cam later on if you want.

I think I sorted out the confusion about flycut. I believe LG is refering to the AFR 225 62cc.

AFR 205 milled .030 to 59 cc with .040 gasget, requires flycutting. I'm 99.99% sure of that. (I leave a little to Lady Chance)

59cc AFRs, G5X3, .040 gasket, no need to flycut.
