Default Picked up 52rwhp with MTI C2 cam!

The car dynoed at 365rwhp with all the bolt-ons, but I thought it could of done better if I would of replaced my bad fuel filter, put on a short belt, and ran the off-road pipes. Anyhow, I installed the C2 from MTI and their Manley valvetrain (springs, titanium retainers, and chromoly pushrods) and pick up an astonding 52rwhp. The car dynoed at 417rwhp! I was shocked, but thrilled and very pleased. I could not believe it. I almost didnt do a cam at all because I couldnt decide which one to go with and then I had the thought of just waiting and doing heads at the same time. But I made a good choice and hopefully soon I will get some money saved up and get some heads! Maybe I will pick up some crazy numbers with that too...let me know what you think, thanks.

365rwhp sounds very high for a baseline (highest i've ever heard for a bolt-on car actually). Are these numbers SAE corrected? Great results, nonetheless

365 was the hp to the wheels SAE corrected. The car was dynoed with the high flow cats (FLP), regular belt, no cutout, and nothing else that would make it non-drivable. At that time I had every bolt-on you can possibly buy for an LS1 besides a turbo or supercharger. On the other hand, when it dynoed at 417rwhp, I had the off-road pipes on (FLP). The car was dynoed just as it runs and drives everyday. I know theres a few things that you can do to get a few more hp on the chart, but I wasnt all into that because I wanted to know what I was pushing as I drove it normally. Thanks.

Great numbers! That's the highest dynoing cam only car I've seen from MTI. They usually hit 380-405 rwhp, but then again your car is the first one I've heard of with the C2 cam on a bolt-on car.

awesome numbers.

do you have an unaltered FLP y pipe? or was it modified?
what rear/gears do you have?
what are the specs of that cam?
how much torque are you making?
can we see the dyno graph?

very interested in your combo!!! congrats!!

Wow dude, 365 RWHP for a bolt on car is insane! Do you complete list of your bolt ons? Curious as to what brands of parts you are using.

From what I understand (correct me if I am wrong) but a short belt takes the power steeering out of the loop. You say you wanted numbers that would be equivalent to cruising around. I bet you play hell cruising with no power steering.

Good numbers though. I too would like to see the Dyno Sheet.

He said he didn't use a short belt the way I understand it.

Jeremy lives right down the street from me, I'll make a quick list of his mods cause I'm sure he doesn't mind.
Stock heads, c2 cam w/ the manley valvetrain, flp's w/ off road pipes, borla, bauer ported tb, granatelli maf, whisper lid. Not sure on what else, his car is badass, I need to go take some pics of it, its really really clean!! I bet if he threw a cutout on that car he could get up to about 425rwhp

Hey thanks AJ, I really appreciate the compliment. Thats one thing that I try to do..is keep the car and engine clean. You wouldnt beleive how big of a difference it makes. By the way, I WASNT running a short belt. Nothing was done to my y-pipe either, its the one that came with the FLPs. Heres a list of what I have done.

Fast Toys ram air kit, K&N, Whisper Motorsports lid, SLP high flow bellow, Granatelli MAF sensor, Bauer Racing ported/polished/powdercoated throttle body with the extra cfm and bump stop mod upon my request, LS6 intake, ASP underdrive crank pulley, 160º Hypertech thermostat, NGK TR-55 plugs, Holley 9mm wires, FLP longtube headers (running off-road pipes), SLP Loudmouth exhaust, MTI C2 cam (224/224 .581/.581 112), Manley valvetrain, and MTI custom tuning. I have other mods too (suspension, drivetrain, etc.) but I just included the motor mods. I think thats it, knowing me, I probably left something out. Thanks

Youre not cheap, I almost didnt do a cam in my car because I wanted to wait until I had money for heads. Theres nothing wrong with doing just a cam. But make sure that you have a good source of intake, exhaust, and computer tuning before you do a cam. Otherwise, you wont be happy with the gains. Im not sure if youll pick up the numbers that I did, but you may wanna give it a try. I know deciding on a cam is hard, it took me months. But theres no need to rush, take your time and youll find the one just for you. I can try to get a clip, I have a digital camera that does video, but it only record in incriments of 15 seconds. It will be later before I get to the camera though.

That explains the dyno numbers. Most full bolt on or cammed cars have 3.73 or 4.10 gears. which makes the numbers lower. I think I might leave my stock gears in after seeing his numbers. They are awesome. Just beware of the stock 10 bolts limits. A hard lauch might cost him 2 grand.

I plan to get a 12 bolt as soon as I get the money. Im not sure on my limits of my 10 bolt, but I dont push it. I really dont race it much from a dig and if I do, Im running street tires. But even if I was running a 3.73 or a 4.10, I dont think that it would put me in the high 300s. That would be almost 20rwhp that I lost just from a gear. I dont think gears set you back that much. Im just happy of the numbers that Im pushing now...no complaints.

What I've seen on gear changes from 3.42 to 3.73 or 4.10, the differences have been minimal from no change to 5 rwhp. Changing from a 10 bolt to a 12bolt or 9" I have seen about a 10 rwhp difference.
