Default H/C/I Question

been searching for a little bit and have come across a BUNCH of H/C/I combo LS1 cars making between 400-450rwhp

I have noticed alot of people using patriot heads. I myself am kind of partial to AFR, but which would HONESTLY get the best results?

I was thinking about doing some AFR 205s with BBK SSI Intake manifold and a cam thats somewhere around 280-300 duration (with a split) and 550-600 lift (also on split for spray) and then top it off with a 125 wet shot.

Anyone have any objections, suggestions etc. Kinda new to the chevy camp, still havent bought mine yet, waiting for the right one to come along.

let me know if maybe theres a more cost effective way, or a smarter route to 400+ N/A

thanks and sorry if its a repost, i actually did search

and look around at the cams people are using, I haven't seen many specs in the 290* range. I'm sure your talking @ .006", but that just seems huge.

im looking to do this on STOCK 50-90k mile bottom end. From the reading ive done, its safe as long as its tuned right. Im lucky enough to have diablosport right up the road from me, they are one of the largest LSx tuners in this area.

like i said im looking for about 400+whp on motor, which i know can be attained, but with what setup, im not sure. Im sure ill figure it out and what you linked me to helped me understand some other htings. the TFS heads are scary expensive, i can get a good set of AFR205s assembled for 1700 for the pair. better than 2500 assembled... money is a SLIGHT object, i dont mind spending it but i dont wanna wait 2 years to go fast. =)

AFR's are definetely one of the nicest heads out there for our application IMO...If you are on a budget then, you cannot go wrong with TSP's PRC stage 2.5 5.3L heads...Combine that with there Magic Stick 3 and you will reach your goal no problem...Check out there site -------->

www.texas-speed.com

EDIT: You can make 400rwhp with a MS3/4 with full bolt-ons easy. (cam only setup)

With an MS4, pacesetter LT, lid, maf, ory, and slp lm1. I made 410rwhp and 382rwtq. The car is an 02 so i already had the ls6 intake but the tb was stock and untouched.

Full bolts would be everything I had plus intake, tb, ud pulley and ewp. With thoughs 4 things and an MS4 440+ rwhp would be possible. Assuming the intake was a FAST 90/nw90 and kooks headers. Not bad for a "cam only" car.

Im thinking along the lines of BBK or Fast Manifold, TSP Stage 2.5 Setup, SLP Lid, Longtubes, and custom 3" Duals out to a pair of mufflers dumped before the axle. (and obviously fuel and diablo tune)

I just want a good strong daily driver that i can spray to low 11s high 10s at the track (with suspension)

Get a double timing change and the ported oil pump. They will include the correct length pushrods with the kit.

A4 will be the way to go for the quicker ETs. Don't forget a built tranny and a good stall in you budget.

Negative. The 1st gen sbc had an almost perfect oilling system. We aren't so lucky, you need more volume to make up for the bad design. It pretty much just for safety, you don't something bad to happen like a spun bearing because you cheaped out on an oil pump.
