Default Spinning 7,000rpm+

Ok, so I drove a 00 Z06 the other day, and was spinning that sucker to 7 grand no problem to shift....what exactly is different inside those that they crank so many more rpms than a F-Body or Regular Vette...?

Could it be the accessories that affect it. I know in the 70's the vette's engines could spin higher than the limiter would let it, but they would stop it to save the accessories.

A 2000 Z06 ehh?

Im sure that was a typo, but the LS6 came with better springs and lighter valves to allow more RPM.

no diffrence man its the same
you can easly rev up to 7000 with no hassle with a good double valve springs and
strong push rods plus lifters etc..
but if that car spining on stock combo he is wasting his time for chure.
because all ls1 and ls6 checkin valve float at 6600 to 6800 so goin there is just wasting time and alot of pressure on the motor .
i remember i tried this my self on my brother car it has stock motor so we raise
the rpm by hp tuner up to 7000 shifting, the car has no problem of goin there but
expect the worse and plus there was no power ,you can feel the car wining and goin slower.
and remember(the power curve of the stock oo zo6 peaked at 6000 or 6200
so goin to 7000 its extremley useless. the red line of 00 zo6 is start 6000

Redline is closer to 6500 rpm and a dyno of my stock 03 Z06 made peak power at about 6300-6400. However, you are correct about revving to 7000 being a waste of time on a stock LS6.

you are right .But what i know from my friend who has a 00 z06
that his red line start from 6000 .
and i think your car put 405 hp the 2003 but the 2000 put 385 hp
so there will be a diffrence in peakes numbers.

(by the way there is nothin call closer to 6500rpm)
normal Fbody red line start 5500 on the dash gauge
ls6 start 6000 red color up to 7000 (as i saw on 2000 zo6) 03???
ls7 start 6500 and the rpm end on 7000 if i didnt forgot.
i hope i didnt miss any thing loool
thanks

If your buddy has a 2000 Z06, he should put it up on e-bay; he'll make a million $$ on the only Z06 to be made before 2001!!!

The biggest reason why the Vettes pull to 7000 rpm so effortlessly is because the F-body tachometer stops at 6500 rpm.

Check it out, it's true.
