Very simple.

1) Remove valvecovers
2) remove rockers
3) remove pushrods
4) install new pushrods after soaking in oil
5) reinstall rockers & torque to I believe 22ft/lbs(check on ls1howto.com for the correct spec)
6) reinstall vlavecovers

Your done. It's very straight forward.

I think what he means is, how do you check for the correct length pushrod?

Mark the coil packs with tape to insure they go back in the same way they came out.

This isn't even necessary. For one it doesn't matter what coil pack goes back over what cylinder & you don't need to remove the packs from the bracket anyway.

Just unplug your spark plug wires from the packs, unplug the main harness for the packs & each individual pack harness, unbolt coil pack bracket & remove as (1) whole piece.

I also only use 2-3 of the bracket bolts upon reinstalling & you'll understand why after you finally get all the bolts out the first time, LOL. Using 2-3 is plenty enough to hold them on the valvecovers.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but when torquing down the rocker arms aren't you supposed to rotate the engine by hand, so the pistons for the rockers your currectly bolting down are near the top?

When starting camshaft install, changing valve springs, changing heads, or whatever I make sure #1 piston is at TDC of firing stroke before starting. Remove #1 sparkplug and place finger over #1 sparkplug hole. While rotating engine feel for airpressure build up at finger then continue to rotate engine until piston is at TDC of firing stroke STOP.

This proceedure was scaned from the 1998 service manual. Using cam sprocket timing marks.

Yes, you want to rotate the engine anytime you feel your compressing the valvespring when your torquing down the bolts. That seems like it would be really tough on the bolt threads.

I am sure several people have just torqued down rockers without following GM's procedure. I believe you will mosty hear valve tapping until lifters settle down and fill with oil.

See thats what I did also & my valvetrain is quieter than it was stock.

I just torqued them all down & then cranked the motor over by hand to make sure everything was operating properly. Haven't had a single issue yet & still no valvetrain noise after daily driving it for 2000 miles.

I once installed new lifters in a 1970 Pontiac 455 without soaking them in warm oil. I simply torqued down all rockers without following any procedure and the motor tapped like crazy on start up until lifters filled with oil.

Since your lifters are already primed and full of oil you should be OK...

No, you'll be fine. As long as everything is torqued down to 22 ft-lb you shouldn't have any issues.
