Default What cam for AFR 205's?..

I have been thinking about this for awhile...First off...
RWHP goal = 460+
RWTQ goal = 420+
Compression = 11.25-11.3 with a DCR something above 8.5
Mods = All supporting bolt ons...Ported fast 90/90 combo, EWP, YT's, ETC...
I do not want to mill the heads past 62CC due to P to V clearances...
I do not want to flycut nor install valve relief pistons...

Should I go with something like a 228-232 600 112 or
a little larger cam like the MS3?..
I know with the larger cam will maybe yield more top-end power but the under the curve power will lack a little...

Overall I want to hit low 11's(maybe high 10's) on motor and 10's on the N2O...The car is not a daily driver...

Simple answer, contact Tony Mamo and discuss the AFR 224/228 cam on a 114 LSA. Tony did in the nieghborhood of 480 hp with that setup and it was completely street friendly and a sleeper.

The MS3 will put your tQ way below your goal.

I have been in touch with Tony(Very helpful person BTW)..He obviously recommends his cam or somethin similiar of that...I guess I have the big cam bug...LOL...If you know what I mean...
If I were to mill the heads to say 61CC chambers, with a cometic .040 head gasket, do you think I would have to run a mix, of race gas and 91...
Thanks...

Keep your dcr to a max of 8.5:1 or so with 91 octane fuel . The same setup as above but with 64cc / .040 cometics would keep in the safe 8.5:1 dcr range .

Does anybody know what Tony's exact set-up was, back when he had his 346?..I know the cam was the 224/228 114+1 but what were his heads milled down to, and did he flycut?..Thanks

Best to ask him, but I didn't think he flycut. The 114 gave him good street manners and more PTV as well.

238/242 .605/.610 lift, 112 +3

This cam made 509/485 I believe with almost the same supporting mods - Ported 90/90, AFR 205's.

Where did you get those info, can you provide a link please?

If done on a 346Cid NA, I want to learn from this set-up....

231/240, .643/.608 112+4 LSA (Predator custom cam grind)

61cc mill, .040 Cometic gasket, degree the cam, centered geometry, proper preload, ported Mamofied 90/90 and all the other goodies and extensive tuning. 475+rwhp or I'm not Predator.

Hi PREDATOR-Z,

No doubt in my mind that this set-up is producing easily 475+RWHP!!!!!

I am questioning about the second number 02TransAm/Batmobile is adding in his thread which "seems to be the torque".....509/485

Any suggestion on it????

234/238 .609/.598 112+3 will do the job perfect. have used this cam before and has made 457hp/419trq thru a moser 12 blot w/4.10's with your combo.

The heads were milled to 62CC chambers?..What was your compression once it was all said and done?..

Why not? if setup is properly done, and trq is not only a product of cam, those numbers are possible. You have to look at the whole equation.

Here is another exemple.

https://ls1tech.com/forums/generation-iii-internal-engine/778335-thanks-predator-z.html

Look how high the trq is and this is A4, 3600 stall with LTs and duals.
