Default Please advise me 408 problems

I had a problem when we tightened the rocker it would stay up because the Pushrod are to long so I changed them from 7.400 to 7.200 now the problem is the car starts perfectly but all you can hear is the rockers chic chic chic.

Now what they told me was to replace the stock rocker with an aftermarket rocker or go for a cam that I can use Pushrod 7.400

Am really confused I don’t want to speed money with out solving the problem.

I really appreciate your help what do you recommend me?

This is my engine spec

I've seen some of the guys use .010 shims on some of their applications under the rockers. Maybe if you put the 7.4 back in and use the shims you'll come out with 7.3?? I'm just guessing here. I don't know how much the heads are milled.

Those Heads have to be shaved a good bit..mine are milled .025, and I'm using 7.4" Rods with no problems..

What rockers are you using. AN easy way to check pushrod length with a stock rocker is to ...

Put the rocker on a lobe thats on the base circle(not open) then tighten it until the rocker does not have any play left to right and you cannot turn the pushrod. do this by hand with a socket but no rachet. then tq it to 22ftlbs counting the rotation. you want 3/4 to 1 1/2 turns on OE lifters.

7.4 sounds to long and 7.2 is way short. Its gona end up 7.3 to 7.35 more than likely. do not run a car unless it has the right pushrods you will beat up the valve train.

If they do not all come out the same while on the base curcle than the valves are beat up. all 8 exh should be the same and all 8 intake the same sometimes int to exh is diff depending on the cam core and lobe family.

Sounds like you need to check the stem heigth on your valves.
