Default 2005 6.0 in to a 2000 ws6, need help asap!

a buddy of mine spun his rod bearings all to hell in his 2000 ws6. his only fate is to get the tired old 80,000 engine rebuilt. a shop already pulled it and is waiting on him to give them the ok to rebuild it. they quoted him 3200 for the rebuild. instead of going that route we located a clean 7800 mile 6.0 long block locally. the guy told him it was a 2004 but the ad said it was an 05? so which ever. the main questions are:

1. what reluctor wheel is in it? from the pictures i can see the CPS sensor at the rear by the starter like my LS1, so does that mean its 24x?

2. can a T56 and pilot bearing be used with the 6.0 crank?

3. are there any other problems we might face? other than the missing bolt hole we need to drill and tap for the F body alternator bracket?

its a complete long block, minus the valve covers. comes with front/rear covers, valley tray, rockers and valve train, aluminum heads, balancer, and truck oil pan. we need to know ASAP! we hope to scoop it up by monday so the shop can put his car back together.

we were thinking of getting some ls6 yellow springs and a Zo6 cam to wake it up some.

Pretty damn sure that has a different reluctor. Its in the same place, so the crank sensor is in the same place, so that doesnt tell you anything.
You can get his crank turned, then balanced to match the 6.0 crank and throw it in.
Either way if its cheap enough, you ought to pick it up. You can make it work.

i was reading that the 24x reluctor wheel was located at the rear of the crank in the standard small block chevy distributor location. the gen 4 ls2 and up got a 58x wheel on the front of the crank with the position sensor on the timing cover. can anyone verify that?

You're thinking about CAM sensors.
Its in the rear on LS1s and on the front on LS2s.
The CRANK sensor, and RELUCTOR are located the same place on both, just 2 different wheels (reluctors)

I swapped out my 347 for the 6ltr and everything went right back into place. The altenator should bolt right back up without drilling the extra hole. i know people who put supercharger's on them and don't even drill the extra hole for that. My 6 speed bolted right up as well. Everything fit , no problem's!

You have to swap cranks.

SScam68, you're right, so I moved this thread from Advanced Performance Engineering to Gen III Internal.
