Default Bigger cam...piston to valve?

OK, currently am running the MTI stage 2 heads milled .030 with 2.055 intake 1.60 exhaust and a B1 cam. I was thinking of going to a larger cam but was concerned about piston to valve clearance. What is the biggest I could safely go without needing to check? I know that the XE-R 224/224 cam will fit without any problems in my combination, but was wondering at what point will I run into trouble. Thanks

Jordan

228/236/.571/.602/112 should work nicely.

So, you're saying there will be no chance of piston to valve issues with those cam specs?

anyone else?

I know of many that are milled .0030 w/ a 230 intake duration. Exhaust is not a problem with the smaller valves. But....yes the specs above will work with zero pv issues.....and lope like a ****.

i suggest my next cam- 232/232-.588".588"-110 XER. It's gonna make awesome power up to 6600rpm and lope like a $2 watch about to come apart. I can't wait to put that one in...

I wanted a cam similar to the G5X2 cam, but with the specs reduced slightly to allow it to work with my milled heads with the large ferra valves so that one sounds really nice. Blue, what heads/and or cam combination are you running?

I will soon be installing a 228/228 .588/.588 112LSA cam with a set of S2 5.3 heads milled 0.010 with 2.02" intake and 1.57" exhaust valves. Think any fly cutting of the stock pistons will be needed? TIA

Just a suggestion:
When you guys are talking about milling the heads make sure you have your decimal place in the correct spot or you might not get the correct answer.
If your heads are milled .0030" (three thousandths) which is basically a cleanup of the surface, you won't have any PTV issues.
If your heads are milled .030" (thirty thousandths) Yes, the possibility of PTV issues is greatly increased.

Example:
G5X2 Cam with stock heads, no problem with PTV clearance.
G5X2 Cam with .0010"-.0030" cleanup of the head surface, no problem with PTV clearance.
G5X2 Cam with .030" milled off, Yes, you will need to fly cut the pistons to make it work.

I hope this will help those with questions get accurate answers.
