Z06 oil analysis results
Oil analysis is from a 01 Z06. Comparing it to some others I have seen on the net, it looks pretty good.
If you've done an oil analysis, how does it compare?
FYI-1 quart added oil was for racing purposes. Filter was AC Delco Ultragold.

Interesting test. Have you ever tested any other oils?
How much did this test cost? Any webpages with info on this companies oil testing.

Re: Z06 oil analysis results
Here's the lab that tested the oil.
Blackstone Labs
Normal cost is $20 but I paid $10 extra to have the TBN test done. This test tells how much additive is left in the oil. It helps you figure out how long you can run your oil and it still protect your motor.

Re: Z06 oil analysis results
I have a copy of a friends report on a WS6 and he has higher levels of those three you mentioned and he is running Redline. What gives?
I also read that the "race version" is not designed to run on the street.

I know that Redline does have higher amounts of
zinc than RP's street oil, but are you sure about the calcium and phosphorus?
The "race version" as you put it is fine for the street and I used it in my LT1 vette, both Vipers that I owned and now the Camaro.

His numbers:
Zinc-1205
Phosphorus-1099
Calcium-2680
I'm trying to find where I read that the "Race versions" were not formulated to use on the street. ...will post back...

Post about using racing oils in daily drivers.
The Link
Also, here's a test of Amsoil 10w-30 in it's virgin state.
Phosphorus (P) 866
Zinc (Zn) 910
Calcium (Ca) 1730
And Royal Purple 10W-30 in it's virgin state.
Ca 1736
P 788
Zn 982
Also, Redline 15w-40 in its virgin state
Ca, 3131 ppm
P, 1261 ppm
Zn, 1334 ppm
So, I don't see how just by looking at the analysis you could tell it was Royal Purple since it seems most oils show high numbers in those three areas. Please correct me if I am wrong since I am new at all of this oil analysis stuff.
Patman, shed some light... please.

Zinc - 1904
Phosphorous - 1072
Calcuim (sulfonate) is part of the detergency package. Both RP's 'street' and Racing lines will have stout packages - 2500 to 3000 ppm range. Red Line will be higher in zinc/ phosphorous than RP's 'street" 10W40 as RP's is API licensed, Red Line's engine oils are not. The API limits these additive as they are proven to be harmful to emissions devices.

PATMAN:
Please give your opinion on this thread.
It looks like the oil analyst with 20 years in the business is giving Royal Purple a good recommnedation. I thought you said you have never seen a good test result with this "garbage" oil? You even said you will not use the free case of oil the company sent you to keep quite about the bad test results.
Can I PLEASE have your free case of RP now?
P.S. The oil filtration was great too; so I suppose he used a FRAM oil filter - another one of your favorate products...

Re: Z06 oil analysis results
It's a good report, but not super great. Iron is a bit higher than it should be, so is tin. Plus it thinned out quite a bit too. Redline would easily beat this report.
As far as using up the free case I got from them, I have used all but 2 quarts of it. Their 5w30 oil is still in my wife's car as we speak.

Look, if I would have know RP was soooo taboo, I never would have posted this test on here and asked for your opinion. I'm new at this and I am just trying to get help. Evidentaly I chose the wrong oil to get the most feedback.

Re: Z06 oil analysis results
For comparison, here is another UOA from a Z06 using Mobil 1 5w30. (I don't believe Mobil 1 5w30 is a good choice for the LS1 either by the way)
Here is more info on the driving conditions of the car:
5300 miles on the oil mobil 1 5w-30 and AC UPF44 filter
1 quart added for track use.
1 autocross
1 day at the drags (13 runs)
1 day of track use at Road Atlanta four 30 min sessions. Oil temps where maybe @ 255*f for the highest that day. It was a cool day.
