Default Valve Seals all the same color?

i was reading ls1howto and it shows that the intake seal is black and exhaust seal is brown. However, i have a PRC dual spring kit that came with the valve stem seals and they are all one color (black) and are all the same. Does this matter?

all mine were brown. I think the black ones are for the intake (low temp) and the brown is for the exhaust (high temp) I would check into it.

Exhaust material is usually a different compound to withstand the additional heat. You may find the ones you have will work fine initially, but I suspect over time they will harden and break.

Yeah brown exhaust are the ones to use, unless those black ones are aftermarket high heat ones

My PRC spring kit came with high heat seals...they were all blue. I've heard from several people that they are all high-heat in the aftermarket kits to avoid confusion when installing them.

We only use the high quality brown viton seals. But you can use the black or blue seals on both intake and exhaust. We have just always had the best service form the brown.

Anthony,

The seals are indeed high temp seals. We use a single color just to make everything less complicated for the install. You will be just fine with these seals. Throw them on and get that cam installed so you can enjoy your new HP!
