Default Stock motor blew up. Going to go w/ MS3. Can I use stock 241 heads?

how u guys doin?? sorry to bother anyone but i had a ?. my motor blew up on thanksgiving and i am now geting a 2002 ls1 motor (from an 02 slp package if it matters) from a friend. i want to go with the MS3 and stock 241 heads (thinking of getting them ported) and also doing forged pistons and connecting rods. would that work? i am also going to upgrade valvetrain to accomodate the MS3. anything else i may need and would it pass smog (sniffer) in california. thanks for your help. i did a search but somehow got confused.

ps. if anybody is wondering how motor blew... i went to the street races on the day before thanksgiving and raced a z06 (wasnt full 1/4 mi, more like 1000-1100ft) I raced him twice got him 1st time then raced him again (got its on video ) i sprayed both times by the way. then on the way home. my buddy pulls next to me at a stop light (long lonely street) and revs his 86 camaro. so i figure i run him on the motor. we take off on green i go thru 1st then second then 3rd then into fourth then at about 110 mph in fourth gear i hear two loud knocks then all kinds of metal going thru under the car. i pull over and see a long trail of oil and walked back up the road to pick up pieces of the block (literally) and a piece of the connecting rod where the bearing goes. it was weird. and i was an hour away from home

video of me vs z06

oh by the way i have gone to the track plenty of times and ran a 12.1 at 116 (100 shot) with a 2.1 60'. I kinda figured it wouldnt pass smog. I guess i can always "Get It" smogged. I'll just try the search again...

Mine blew up in an interesting way. I would have been happier if it would have blown up while i was racing and spraying. then i would have something to brag about. now i have to say "my engine broke while i was driving".... what happened to yours?

Well... mine didn't technically blow... but it would have... It's got ROD KNOCK really bad... considering it ran on the dyno literally about 10 times before my mechanic decided to call it quits because of the knock, i guess i'm lucky it didn't blow...

but the car is currentley over at CMS getting a new/rebuilt motor with a new/upgraded valvetrain and forged bottom end... along with a few additional goodies... LT's, ORY, CAM, IM, TB, etc...

I would of blamed it on the spray if it happened while i was spraying... then i would have had something to brag about. Good luck on the legal though...
