Question TR 224 + milled PRC 5.3 = PTV issues?

Hey guys,

I'm getting ready to purchase my heads and was wondering if I would have any PTV clearance issues with PRC 5.3's milled to 59cc and a TR224 112LSA. Anyone running this setup? I will be using GM gaskets.

Thanks for your help

I ran a 224 on a 114 with 59cc afr's with stock gaskets. I can't remeber what it was but i think it was like .090 int and .130 ex . maybe i can find it with a search but it was more than good. and that was with 1.75 rocker's

I see no issues at all with that combo. Call TSP, they can make work for you.

What kind of compression can I expect to see with this set-up?

I'm running a 224/.581 114 cam with a set of Bo White 5.3 heads milled .018" & a set of FelPro stock LS1 gaskets. Haven't had a single issue on mine yet.

So if I mill the heads to 59cc what kind of octane will I need to run? Will 93 cut it? And if I don't mill can I run something else? How much power will I lose by not milling?

Just run that cam at 11:1 > 11.2:1 SCR

That is the best range for the TR224 cams

Yep, mine is sitting at 11:1 & it runs hard for a 224 cam & 5.3 heads.

So what do I need to do in order to get in that range? I ordered the head/cam deluxe gasket set from thunder for a 98.I assume this comes with the graphite gaskets? Therefore pushing compression up over the mls gaskets? And just to be sure here you guys are running pump gas right?

Just give us a call when your ready, I should have 59cc 5.3l heads in stock!! 59cc is a pretty popular configuration.

I'm running 5.3 heads with an F14 (232/234 .600"/.600" 112 LSA) and measured .100"/.180" (I/E) P to V clearance.
