My Cam is on Backorder! Help me pick a new one please!!
Alright guys,
So I ordered a TR224 on a 112lsa to go with my PRC 2.5 5.3's, but as luck would have it, the only cam they had was incorrectly ground. I would have to wait 7-8 days for a new one, but I can't! The swap must happen next weekend (1/12) or it won't happen until may. I wanted to go with this cam because of it's street manners and proven performance. So I need some help on picking out a new cam with great driveability. My mod list is below.
Lid
Ported TB
LS6 Intake
PRC 5.3 Stg 2.5 - double springs
Cam - ??????
Hardened pushrods
LS7 lifters
Pacesetter LT's
TSP catted Y
SLP dual/dual
Car is a 98 M6 with 55k. This car IS my DD and needs to stay that way. I can't afford and don't really want a super choppy idle. A little lope is fine, but no stalling at stops lope please. The car will be tuned by Jeremy Formato in the next couple of weeks. I'm not looking for extreme power but I would like to get over 400rwtq and +400rwhp. I don't drag the car much, so I don't really need anything peaking over 6200k. I've been told that I can go bigger on the cam because of M6, but im not really sure how much bigger I can go and still keep my goals. Can someone please help me on this? I'm kind of thrown for a loop on this and need to order this cam by monday.
I appreciate your input and thank you for all the help you guys have given me!

I made some good power with this camshaft, and I daily drive my car. Great street manners.

Not trying to tell you what to do or butt in but why are you wanting such a small cam. I have had the TR224, 2002 405hp LS6 cam and G5x2 from LG. The LS6 cam performed better in my oppion than the TR224 cam and I went a 1/10 secondf faster but i know it does sound stock. I see you have 5.3 ported heads, LS6 intake, thottllebody LS7 lifters ect. Your wanting power and with a tune just about any cam can be daily driven. I would call some comapnys and tell them what you are looking for in performance and explain that you are wanting to DD it. Good Luck

I agree with the fact that drivability is in the tune I run the Torquer 3 and it drives fine.
Do you really want to rush something this important? I wouldn't just pick a cam your not sure of because you want it right away. That being said there are so many awesome cams out there I'm sure you can find one to fit you needs by monday if that is what you want.

another vote for this one. the 224 intake will dictate your driveability and be just as easy to tune as the tr224. the 230 exhaust will help you make more power with your full catted exhaust. Do it on a 112 though. I just noticed the linked cam is on a 114

+1 on the TSP 224R. If you wanted to step it up just a little I might go as big as TSP's 228R. I will be installing my 224R very shortly I will also be using either the stage 2.5 5.3's or just the stage 1 LS6's. Good luck with your setup and let us know how you do in the dyno section.

I am finishing up the install of my 228R. I also have the PRC 5.3ltr Stage 2.5's milled to 59cc's and .040 Cometics. As soon as I get my pushrods and get her fired I will let you know how she drives, ect.
I did have the Torquer V3 and had absolutely no problems with drivability.

Futral Motorsports cams have proven to make better power than a lot of the others listed above with smaller durations and better driveability.
I only recommend Futral cams to my customers.

Get the TSP 224. or just get the TR 224 on the 114. Slightly less ramp, but it's still a 224 single pattern. Just dont get the comp with the .580 lift.. seems like lots of lift for no reason.
