Default Can I use higher redline?

Can anyone tell me if installing Z06 heads w/yellow springs, yella terra rockers, and chrome moly push rods on my LS1 will allow me to go up to 7k?

If the yellow springs are just stock LS6 springs, then I would not push it. Better off with duals of some sort and Titanium retainers for the best safety margin.

like hammer said, your going to need a good dual spring set up, and cam profile that will carry it that far, better intake and rod bolts IMO.

unless your running a large cam there is no reason to go past 6500 much less to 7k

If you have a cam that makes power that high, go for it with the spring upgrades mentioned earlier...if you just want to peg your factory tachometer, then sell your car

only go as high as your cam can go, anything higher is pointless. If stock, the 6200 is fine. If you have a mild street cam, most will peak just before or around 6000rpm, 6500rpm is nice, but not necessary.

I have my setup peaking about 5700 rpm give or take, I've played with 6500rpm redline only because without gears, it allows me to finish the 1/4 in 3rd on sluggish hot days when the engine doesn't want to rev quick.

your cam is pretty much the deciding factor on redline, not the heads, i would think changin your heads would give you more power up to your redline, but not raise it

have you ever slowed your shift points down a couple hundred rpms, and seen if your car got any faster? just curious.

Depends on the head. With the stock cam in an LS1, a back to back test in Hot Rod found that the gains peak to peak amounted to 37HP (421@5800 stock vs. 458@5900 w/ AFR). The test pulled to 6500 rpms though, and the gains increased to 58HP (393@6500 stock vs. 451@6500 w/ AFR).

That is power that is a huge benefit at shift recovery, and I would think it justifies a higher shift point, if not a higher redline.
