Default 1.8 vs 1.7 roller rockers????

What is the disadvantage of using 1.8 rather than 1.7 if a person is upgrading to new roller rockers? Why would you want to stay with the 1.7 ratio?

Using with, for example, afr 205 heads with a tr 224 112 cam.

1.8 will change the amount of lift...if a cam is .570 lift thats with 1.7rockers, with 1.8 it will be like .614 lift. I dont think its worth it in my opinion just for lift.

most current aftermarket cams have lobes that are too aggressive to run a higher lift rocker.

the cams that allow the use of the rockers tend to have low lift to begin with.

just buy a cam with the lift already built in...you'll save yourself money

100% correct. Most aftermarket LS1 camshafts have pretty aggressive lobe profiles and ramp rates.

I realize aftermarket cam is better but not an option for me. With the stock ls1 cam is there a direct boltin 1.8 rocker without changing to much (pushrods, guide plates, ect). I am limited to how far apart i want to take my motor. I have been looking at the scorpions but i am hoping you guys could steer me towards a proven product. I hate trying things and finding out the hardway its no good.

There are a few companies that make a direct bolt on 1.8 rocker. SLP, Harland Sharp, and Yella Terra to name a few. I would recommend upgrading the valve springs and pushrods with any 1.8 rocker. Mainly because the added ratio will put more tension on pushrods causing them to flex and most aftermarket rockers add weight over the valve making it hard for the stock springs to control.

not to mention stock springs don't have enough lift capacity to allow 1.8 ratio.

at least put some ls6s on there

My next question is where to buy rocker arms springs and pushrods.
