I'm have removed my intake and found that I'm having problems with my car ingesting oil through the intake ports on my AFR 205's. I just had my heads ported and also had new valve seals put in, I have NO PCV system(only breathers, and used ARP thread sealant on the intake rocker arm bolts but it seems oil is still getting in there on all my intake ports. I think I'm still getting oil through the rocker arm bolts. I have already used Loctite red and ARP thread sealer in the past and oil still gets through. Should I should apply a **** load more to the bolts? What sealant is working for you all when it comes to sealing the rocker arm bolts.

id upgrade to the arp rocker bolts and loc-tite the **** out of them

Red loctite is unnecessary. Blue loctite should seal them, but you need to clean the holes and the bolts first. It is an anaerobic so it need to be clean to properly set up.

I did clean the **** out of the bolts and rocker arm bolt holes with carb cleaner. one strange thing though is even though there is no PCV system, there is oil in the runners of the intake manifold too(were the manifold meets the heads). I would guess this is due to reversion. I'm also thinking about using Teflon tape with sealant on the bolts.

When I just bolted my car back together I did the following. I used Permetex thread sealant on the threads of the rocker bolts. I ran a seam around the threads about 1/3 inch up from the bottom of the bolt and covered a least two-three threads with it. I also used red loctite at the top of the bolt head.

Thanks for the replies guys. I guess I'll try the Permatex sealant this time. I definitely wont be stingy with it this time.

It looks as though the Teflon Stuck to the rocker arm bolt but not the inner threads on the heads. this time Ill be cleaning and applying more of the sealant to the bolt and the inner side of the threads. Thanks for the Info guys.

FWIW- I would not use carb cleaner to clean the holes either. It will leave a somewhat slick residue. I'd use methanol, brake cleaner or electronic contact cleaner to clean the holes properly.

there is a red lock-tite gel that I really liked when I used it, autozone....it may be what the ones above me referred to, but I am at work and I dont recall the name

blue loctite is all that's needed (and recommended) for rocker bolts. Try to get a good amount near the cap of the bolt to form a plug. You'll need to make sure to clean it well. Carb cleaner, then q-tip it dry so that the loctite can flow well. It should form an air-tight seal just under the cap that's pretty "thick" right under it. You should also give it a few hours to harden as if it's getting sucked up by vacuum it'll wreck it.
