Default AFR 205 vs TFS with XR265HR cam!! With dyno numbers

Ok, i was just looking for some head upgrade, and after all i have read in the forum, i think that people like most TFS and AFR. But i know the all depends on the combination of all things. So i find a book "Dyno Porven GM LS1-LS7" and they have compare these two heads with the same cam and similar specs i have on my car (LT headers,LS6 intake, etc).
Numbers were a little impressive.
They compare both against stock LS1 heads, they installed a XR265HR cam (212/218 .522/.529 114) and used with all 3 heads, LS1,AFR 205 and TFS. The only thing they change was the heads and also tuned the car identical for all 3 runs. The LS1 engines were very similar but not exactly the same.
Numbers were: (not rwhp, just fwhp)

Stock LS1 heads vs AFR 205
~LS1 422hp @5900rpm
~AFR 458hp @5900rpm
~largest gain 50hp @ 6400rpm

~LS1 428ftlbs @ 4800rpm
~AFR 452ftlbs @ 4800rpm
~largest gain 43ftlbs @ 6400rpm

Stock LS1 heads vs TFS(Twisted Wedge Heads)
~LS1 454hp @6400rpm
~TFS 508hp @6600rpm
~largest gain 56hp @ 6600rpm

~LS1 426ftlbs @ 5100rpm
~TFS 455ftlbs @ 5500rpm
~largest gain 43ftlbs @ 5600rpm

Both largest gains were obtained around 6400-6600rpm, so my car is A4 so i would not go that far.
Are these numbers possible??
They also show like if the XR265HR gain some impressive numbers with so lo
duration and all, and was the one recommended for every day street car.

Wich head would you recommend for an A4 car, with that cam(xr265hr),LT headers, ls6 intake, MAF, SLP cold air intake, 3" Y pipe with cats, TUNED???

You label some of those wrong? You have AFR in the top columns but TFS next to the actual numbers.

Yep sorry for that, in the first comparasion instead of saying TFS it is suppose to say AFR, but the numbers are the correct ones.

Simple, AFR heads and the AFR 220/224 cam.

Your initial discussion indicates it was the same motor with a new cam and then the head swaps but later you say the LS1 was similar. Not sure I follow.

from what i can see your comparing 2 different motors with different cams/or intake, or headers, or something.

LS1 422hp @5900rpm

LS1 454hp @6400rpm

obviously this isnt exactly apples to apples as slight changes to the motor/cam can affect the way power comes on. One motor is peaking at 5900 and one at 6400 so right away that should throw flags up all over the place. The 2 heads ovbiously produce power increases on either motor but unless you dyno the heads back to back on the same motor , then overlay their respective graphs theres no way to really say which head will be better for that specific application.

I was going to try to read that, but it wasn't real clear at first glance. Then, I looked down and saw the other posts and decided to skip it. It's two differently cammed engines? I mean, that's not a comparison at all, is it?

I am unclear as to the setups of the motors that were run other than obviously different heads are compared. I initially thought it was the same motor but the later statement indicates it was not so all bets are off.

I will stand by my recommendation for a small cam in an auto though.

Little late but here you go -

59cc AFR's, XR265HR with 1.8 rockers to get to .600 lift, small shorty headers, stock catback. More could be gained with some additional bolt-ons but this was purpose built as a traveling DD
