TR224 -114 initial impressions!
Well just got through putting my car back together after the install . . . and all I can say is WOW this cam is great! Exactly what I'd hoped it would be, with far fewer issues than expected! After reading all the posts about rough idle, lope, dieing out, surging, hot start problems, valve train noise, low oil presure and miss-fire SES lights, I was prepared for the worst. I have none of these problems! Zero tuning and the thing idles great, starts well hot or cold, never dies with A/C on or off, no SES lights and no "sewing machine" sound! Stock-like driveability and off idle torque; I can even bog the engine down to 1100 rpm with no surging or bucking. Pulls hard to 4000 rpm; tomorrow after the springs have had overnight to cool I'll take the r's up to see what it really can do. THANKS Thunder Racing for a killer street cam!

NO SEWING MACHINE SOUND?????
I do indeed have that problem with my TR224/114. But like you said, it is a killer cam and SO SLEEPER LIKE. My SES light does come on if I let it idle to long when cold, but when my wife drives it, it goes off. Go figure.
I put down 390 at the wheels with asp pulley and TTS headers hitting the limiter at 6250rpm. Tuning will help us both. Idle even smoother and be able to rev it up. I feel this cam may be the best overall cam on the market. A 112 just adds to the headaches in my opinion.
Enjoy and keep me posted when you get it dynoed Cal. My torque curve was pretty flat and should be more of a rainbow. Let me know if yours is the same.
God, I love this cam!

Mine is a little noisy also. Surges with the AC on when you first start it up, but once it warms up it's fine. I bumped the idle up to 900rpms with the AC on, though. I'm thinking of drilling the TB just a tad, to see if that will help it out some. I need a couple of hours on a dyno.

I was hoping for low valve train noise, but this is as quiet as stock! Must be the Yella Terra's and 5/8 turn of preload. I've got EFILive5 and LS1edit so I'll be doing my own tuning, but I sure wish I had a wideband O2; I'm looking for one I can afford . . .

I just installed a TR cam.... and i love it!
Yea i got some new valvetrain noises... but it idles better, doesn't surge and makes noticeably more torque down low as well as more hp up top than the hotcam i had in it.
Plus it's a little more turbo friendly than the hotcam

OK Dale I should know tomorrow. I'm going to log a baseline with EFILive5 to start with. I already have one on my hard drive for the stock engine. Hey I've been meaning to ask, is that a Cobra in your aviatar? Are you putting an LS1 in a Cobra Kit-Car?

Right on Cal, good to read your post. Mine will be going in mid-august. Tuning the next day, maybe same day if we get install done in time.
I'm going to try and get my OEM D/D repaired and SOMEHOW put it in the car and take it with me for install--along with the headers/Y pipe (should be a full car). With the ORY, I can't do the LM and the D/D should sound nice. just have to repair a few tears i put in the pipe at the ends/joins

OK the springs have been heat cycled and allowed to cool overnight, so I hit my favorite quarter-mile on-ramp on the way to work this morning . . . All I can say is "Oh my God, hang on!!" It revs a lot quicker now; goes from 4500 rpm to the stock rev limiter at 6200 rpm in what seems like a microsecond . . . and this is without tuning! No real quantitative results, but the ole butt-o-meter is sure impressed!
