Default LS1 heads.what year what number?

I'm rebuilding a Z28 and it has the 241 heads on it. It was made 3/1998. I didn't think the 98 had the 241 heads, I was thinking they had the 806 or something like that

Are there any differences in head flow out of the box on the stockers? I know the 241's are the "preferred choice" for porting, but Im wondering if there are any flow differences also.

nope your right

if you were to compare an 805/853 to a later 01/02 241 there should def be a diffence maybe 10rwhp at most

Thanks for the replies. I wonder if this 98 has a newer engine init. It also had the metal timing chain cover gasket. I was also thinking that the 98 had like a paper kind of gasket for the timing chain cover

Any date codes or casting numbers or other little things i could look for to see differences? I'm only interested because that would mean i have updated rod bolts too.
