www.ls1howto.com is your friend, along with this forum, and a second set of hands. What spring tool do you have? Be patience, if something is being a **** head, take a break, come back to it. Double and even triple check EVERYTHING when you are ready to fire it up initially. Careful with the oil pan bolts, they don't like a lot of torque, and don't destroy the oil pump o-ring.

have a (in.lbs.) torque wrench + ft.lbs. , make shore you clean the head bolt holes if there is any kind of dabre like water or lock tite in there it will cause a hydra-lock and crack your block ,dearing torque down.

I used locking needle nose pliers for the pickup tube bolt. Then I got it started with a gear wrench and i was good to go.

i'm having a bitch of a time getting the ls1 intake out, i cant seem to get it forward enough to get my hand in the back to disconnect whatever it is thats back there. Ive been doing this alone so far and am not a mechanic by any means. I got the intake unbolted all the injectors out, water pump is out, coolant lines discon. (obviously) I think with an extra set of hands ill be able to get the intake out a few inches and be able to reach the back of it. thanks for the tips guys!

yeah the main hose goes to the brake Booster. The other is a small line that should just pop off. The connector is the MAP sensor. it pops out of the intake. also the mistake i made was not to double check the stupid O-ring on the oil pickup tube had to tear out the steering rack and all the front stuff to redo it over pain in the *** but it needed to be done~cole~

LS1HOWTO.com take your time if something is kicking your *** walk away and come back later. The intake can be a bitch but make sure you have the back 4 bolts up and out of the block. Use tape or zip ties to keep them up then dont be scared, pull up and little forward on the intake. Be carfull, you will most likely break the oil sending unit. Don't let it kill your drive, you can get one at Napa for $40 if you break it. PATIENCE TAKE YOUR TIME YOUR CAR WILL THANK YOU FOR IT. Get a strong magnet to help with the keepers on the springs, take your time and your car will be a killer!

I oiled up a wooden dowel so as not to get any splinters in the motor, and sanded one edge down to a point so it went in easier. Cost me $.89.

The reason the intake wont come forward is because the brake booster vac. hose is hung on the oil pressure sender, This is were a lot of people has problems and brake off the sender. And the intake bolts drop down a hang in the runners

+1...^^^ Going on what he said, a trick I used for my intake bolts was to use some clothes pins. Cheap, and real easy to use in a confined space.
