Gas mileage with the addition of heads?
Currently the Z has full bolt ons and a GT2-3 cam with essentials. I'm looking to add high flowing heads in a couple months down the road and am wondering how gas mileage will be affected with this addition? Right now I'm getting about 16mpg.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Do a search for AFR heads. Tony Mamo has reported lower emissions and 2-3mpg increases with the AFR 205 heads when they were tested for a Califormia Air Resources Board Exemption Order (basically, emissions legal replacement part).
Your converter probably does more than anything to hurt your mileage.

I honestly dont know where to start when looking for the right set of heads, Lingenfelter makes a head that they say works good with my GT2-3 cam.

Biggest reason to gain mpg's from Tony's AFRs are that they use small, efficient intake ports. Its an old school idea that alot (it seems at least) of manufacturers ignore. Supporting mods are going to be the decider as said above. However, really thinking the whole engine out will allow for optimizing engine output and mileage. A good tune will go a long way as well.

If you have the dinero go for AFR 205's. Those cnc'd ls6ers do look nice. You may want to look into patriot performances ls6 heads. I've heard good things and their prices are great.

I gained 3/4 mpg with my H/C combo. I am running a 11.2 C.R. with my setup and I am sure this is the reason for my mpg increase.Make sure you run as much C.R. as you can with your new heads.Your cam needs the added low speed torque you will get from the higher C.R. I would shoot for at least a 8.5 DCR.
