Default Afr Heads

OK I've got a problem and need 2 know what to do. I bought a set of AFR Heads, a cam, and LS6 intake in a little package deal about a year ago and had a shop put everything in the car. Everything works great but I'm about to start doing more mods like a new cam and stuff. The problem I'm running into is I don't know any of the number on the heads and I'm affraid this is going to cause me problems with my mods. Is there a way to find out the bore of heads or do I pretty much need to buy new heads and start fresh. I would much rather just find the numbers i need for these heads and keep them. Thanks in advance.

If the heads are out of the box AFR's, you should be able to get any information you need from AFR (Tony Mamo). If they have been modified, all bets are off. What numbers specifically do you need as others here may have the information you are looking for.

I don't know exactly. What I'm worried about is if I am going to add something will the bore of the heads matter? Like for example if I want to add a cam will it matter what the bore of the heads is?

I don't know. Is there a way to find that out? When I bought this stuff I only knew how to change my oil. I have always paid someone else to just make it better but now I'm in a position that I'm having to learn all this engine stuff on my own. I have seen all over the references of AFR 205's and AFR 225's but I don't know what type I got. I'm sure I was told when I bought them but that was back in the pay others days and those are over. So any way of finding out what type they are?

1630 equals 225's (large bore 72 cc chambers unless they were milled)

1510 equals 205's (small bore 66 cc chambers................................)

The only thing you wont know unless you remove the heads are chamber volume....did they mill the heads for more compression or leave them stock?

Good luck with your future endeavors

Tony

I can only guess but I believe they were left stock.....what general location will this PN be located? On the front near the AFR engraving?

Ok I just walked out and looked at them.....they are the 1510's and I'm guessing they are stock....so with them being refered to as a small bore 66 cc are these good to be left stock or is this something i should consider having milled some? Just asking opinion because if they are great stock then I'm going to leave them like that.

Compression never hurts, but given your location what type of fuel (octane level) can you get? Also, since you are changing cams, milling will result in less piston to valve clearance, do you know the cam being installed?

I get 95 octane here. I haven't decided on the cam yet. One idea I'm throwing around is the Torquer III 231/234 .643/.598 at 111 lsa but I haven't decided on that yet. I'm still looking around and reading about the cams others are running to help make my decision.
