will the l92 heads a cam make 500hp on a lq4?
First let me say hello to everyone on this site. I own a 86 s10 with a 406 old school sbc. 11-1 580solid roller. I am thinking of buying a lq4 and doing the l92 conversion on it. Saw the article in car craft. Is it really that easy. my truck runs 6.60 on motor now and would love to get in t o a ls based motor. Looking for n/a combos or small shot.
help me get into the 21st century.

i have the same engine as the car craft build and it runs great, pulls hard to 7500 rpm, ill have track times in a couple weeks, it will easily be in the 10's now, not too bad for an engine that is all stock gm truck parts exept the cam and valve springs

thanks for the info. what did you run for headers in s10,and what nounts? I've been racing years and kinda stayed with tried and true sbc but was thinking of putting one in the s10. I'm thinking of staying with my t350 it has a 4000 stall and 9 inch with 410 in it.

its a 40 over 400 with 5.7 rod je pistons motown 220 heads with ti/valve and a cam motion solid. Would like to go with something I could run on pump gas and not be worried about wild spring pressures all the time. would the lq4 hold a small shot on top of the 500 n/a ?

i have arp rod bolts, the bottom end will easily handle 150-200hp , the stock rod bolts seem to be the weak point on any LSX engine, and shim the oil pump spring .100" for more pressure, and the stronger LS2 timing chain(actually i think any gm chain you order now will get you the better chain)

I made 446/416 with my LQ4 build... not exactly like the one in carcraft... but I can see 500 being an easy goal with that build... I still have A LOT of room left on my build and all i'm lacking is a little over 50rwhp to hit 500... problem is, i'm pretty content with the power it has now, and I need supporting mods on the car to handle anymore power... i.e. rear end, injectors, etc...
good luck with your build!

a little off the subject,, anyone else watching TRUCKS on SPIKE today
they built a 95 s-10 355, 871 blower, dual carbs, th400 trans brake, 3500 stall, 5.29 gears, tubbed out 9" rear
it ran a 7.11 1/8 mile(that converts to 11.12 1/4 mile)
THAT IS TERRIBLE,,,, this was an all out race truck
